Cork at a glance
Cork City had about 224,000 residents at the 2022 census, and the CSO counted around 29,700 active enterprises across County Cork, city included, in 2020. Biopharma plants at Ringaskiddy and Little Island support a ring of engineering and service firms, medtech companies work alongside University College Cork, MTU and the Tyndall National Institute, and the county's farms and processors feed a food and drinks industry that ships through the Port of Cork.
Companies register with the Companies Registration Office, file through Revenue Online Service, and often draw on Cork Chamber and the Local Enterprise Office Cork City. Many Cork manufacturers sell abroad, so intra-Community invoices, VIES returns and dollar sales are routine for them. Skyline Nexus ERP keeps those documents and the euro ledger in one system.
Engineering subcontractors in Cork fabricate skids, pipework and steel assemblies for the biopharma plants and install them on site. Skyline Nexus ERP runs each contract as a project with a budget, milestones and material requisitions, while the fabricated assemblies have their own bills of materials and work orders in the MES module, so workshop hours and site costs end up on the same contract.
Site service contractors who look after utilities, cleanrooms and plant equipment record each job as a CMMS work order linked to the client contract, with a permit to work, technician, parts and downtime. Validation and GMP documentation stay in the plant's quality systems; Skyline Nexus gives the contractor its job costs, invoices and the ledger behind them.
Cork's medtech firms produce devices, components and sterile consumables in batches for customers in Ireland and abroad. Skyline Nexus ERP plans each batch from a bill of materials and routing in the MES module, holds components and finished goods by lot, and shows in the Stock Expiry Report which sterile stock must ship before its date runs out.
Sales to the United States go out in dollars at the rate entered on the invoice, with the euro value posted to the ledger, while EU customers receive intra-Community invoices with both VAT numbers. Test and production equipment sits in the asset register, and its maintenance runs through PPM schedules in the Skyline Nexus CMMS, so downtime and service costs are known per machine.
Dairies, food processors, bakeries and drinks producers around Cork turn raw materials into products with short shelf lives. Skyline Nexus ERP records each recipe as a bill of materials, produces against work orders, and keeps ingredients and finished goods by lot, so the Lot Report shows what went into a batch and the Stock Expiry Report shows what must leave the warehouse first.
Stock is valued by FIFO, the IFRS-compatible method, and cost of goods sold follows the lot actually consumed. Producers with a farm shop or market stall can use the Skyline Nexus POS, which supports weighing scales, because Ireland requires no fiscal till. Export orders move through sales orders, delivery notes and shipments to customers abroad.

Checked 2026-10-03. Ireland: full compliance guide
As of October 2026, an Irish VAT invoice carries the supplier's VAT number, a sequential number and the VAT per rate in euro; standard VAT is 23%, with reduced rates of 13.5% and 9%. A Cork exporter's intra-Community supply of goods is zero-rated, shows both VAT numbers and the words Intra-Community supply of goods, and is reported on VIES returns. Records are kept for 6 years.
A credit note gives its reason, the original invoice number and the original VAT rate. E-invoicing is not mandatory today: Revenue has announced that from 1 November 2028 every business must be able to receive eInvoices, and from November 2029 businesses trading cross-border in the EU must issue them. Skyline Nexus ERP can generate Peppol BIS files but cannot yet send or receive them over Peppol.
A Cork manufacturer moving to Skyline Nexus ERP imports products, components and opening stock by lot first, then customers and suppliers with VAT numbers and open balances, then the chart of accounts. GL opening balances are entered on a screen that only saves when debits equal credits, and recipes or assemblies are then built as bills of materials.
The free trial is long enough to produce one real batch, ship it to an EU customer and check the trial balance. Support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail in English, and Skyline Nexus ERP has no office in Cork. Exporters preparing for the 2028 and 2029 eInvoicing steps, and firms with several plants, should book a demo first.
Yes. Skyline Nexus ERP lets a Cork engineering subcontractor run each plant contract as a project with a budget, milestones and material requisitions, build fabricated assemblies from bills of materials, and record site jobs as work orders with permits to work. Validation and GMP documentation remain in the plant's quality systems.
Yes. Skyline Nexus ERP holds a Cork medtech company's components and finished goods by lot, with lot and expiry reports for sterile stock, and issues invoices to US customers in dollars at an entered rate while posting the euro value. EU customers receive intra-Community invoices with both VAT numbers.
Skyline Nexus ERP handles recipes as bills of materials, production as work orders and ingredients and finished goods by lot. A food or drinks producer in Cork sees what went into each batch in the Lot Report and which stock must ship first in the Stock Expiry Report, with FIFO valuation behind the cost of goods sold.
As of October 2026 there is no e-invoicing mandate in Ireland. Revenue has announced that every business must be able to receive eInvoices from 1 November 2028, and that businesses trading cross-border in the EU must issue them from November 2029. Skyline Nexus ERP generates Peppol BIS files but cannot yet send or receive them over Peppol, so a Cork exporter should plan its route.
A credit note from a Cork company gives the reason for the credit, the number of the original invoice and the VAT rate that applied to it. In Skyline Nexus ERP a sales return is created against the original invoice, which keeps that link, and the returned goods and VAT reverse in the ledger when sales auto-posting is on.
Skyline Nexus ERP is available in English and Arabic, with interface translations for many other languages, including French, German and Spanish for colleagues and partners abroad. A Cork company keeps its books in euros and can invoice export customers in dollars or sterling at an exchange rate entered on each document.
A Cork company starts the Skyline Nexus ERP free trial by creating its business in euros, importing a short product list with opening stock by lot and a few customers, then running one production batch through to an export invoice. Checking the trial balance afterwards shows whether the set-up matches the old books.
