Skyline Nexus ERP gives Toronto companies one ledger for HST invoicing, stock, projects and maintenance, with PDF invoices that meet CRA content rules.
Advisory firms near Bay Street, software teams in Liberty Village and clinic suppliers in North York work from the same records instead of separate spreadsheets.

Toronto at a glance
The City of Toronto counted about 2.8 million residents in the 2021 census, and Statistics Canada lists around 110,000 business locations with employees inside the city limits. They range from advisory boutiques in the Financial District and software studios in Liberty Village to clinics in North York and distributors working the Scarborough and Mississauga corridor towards Pearson airport.
Most of these firms incorporate through the Ontario Business Registry, meet peers at the Toronto Region Board of Trade and file a single HST return with the Canada Revenue Agency. Their friction is administrative: invoices typed in a word processor, stock counted in spreadsheets and an accountant who rebuilds the ledger every quarter. Skyline Nexus ERP keeps source documents and the general ledger together so that rebuild stops.
Bay Street is home to bank and insurer head offices, yet the firms most likely to need a new ERP are the smaller ones around them: advisory boutiques, payment start-ups, brokers and the service companies that support them. Many run an operating company beside a holding company, each with its own year end and auditor's queries.
Skyline Nexus ERP treats each corporation as a separate business with its own chart of accounts, fiscal periods and audit trail, and the Consolidation screens combine member trial balances and eliminate intercompany balances. Manual journals at or above an approval threshold you choose wait for sign-off, closed periods refuse late postings, and the Audit Pack exports ledgers, registers and statements to one Excel workbook.
Toronto's software companies cluster in the converted warehouses of Liberty Village and downtown, with a second ring near York University in North York. Their books mix subscription revenue, implementation work, contractor bills and research grants, and founders want to see margin per client long before they can justify hiring a controller to produce it.
In Skyline Nexus ERP the Projects module holds tasks, milestones, budgets and contracts, and every journal line can carry a project and a cost centre, so the Cost Center Analysis report shows margin by client or product line. The CRM logs leads, follow-ups, proposals and calls, and the Budget vs Actual report gives a board or a lender the comparison it normally asks for.
Toronto's hospital network, from University Health Network to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, supports a dense ring of life-science businesses: device distributors, contract laboratories, specialist clinics and the contractors who maintain clinical buildings. Their pressure points are stock with expiry dates, maintenance records an inspector can follow and budgets reported line by line.
Skyline Nexus ERP covers that ground with lot and expiry reporting on stock and FIFO costing, the IFRS-compatible method. Its CMMS module raises work orders and maintenance requests, schedules planned preventive maintenance and records permits and warranty claims for each piece of equipment. Skyline Nexus is not a clinical or patient system; it runs the finance, stock and maintenance side.
Compliance
Canada has no e-invoicing mandate and no federal QR or fiscal-device rule. A valid invoice is defined by what the buyer needs to claim input tax credits, in three tiers: under $100, $100-$499.99 and $500 or more. From $100 the invoice needs the GST/HST number and the tax; from $500 it also needs the buyer's name, payment terms and descriptions. Rates are GST 5%, HST 13% (ON), 14% (NS) or 15% (NB, NL, PE), and GST plus QST 9.975% in Quebec, PST 7% in BC, 6% in SK or RST 7% in MB. In Quebec, invoices must be in French. Restaurants, bars and taxis there must issue bills from a Revenu Quebec-certified sales recording system with a QR code, which Nexus is not. Keep records for 6 years; the CRA expects records in Canada unless it gives permission.
No e-invoicing mandate (B2B, B2C); PDF invoices are fine
Under $100: supplier name, date, total
$100-$499.99: add the GST/HST number, the tax (or an 'includes GST/HST' note) and the tax status of each line
$500+: add the buyer's name, payment terms and item descriptions
HST is one rate (13%, 14% or 15%); do not split it
Quebec: QST 9.975% on its own line, QST number (1234567890 TQ 0001), invoice in French
Quebec restaurants, bars and taxis: a certified SRS (WEB-SRM, QR code) is required, and Nexus is not certified
Keep records 6 years; the CRA expects them in Canada unless it gives permission

As of October 2026 a Toronto business charges HST at 13%, one harmonised rate reported on a single return to the Canada Revenue Agency and never split into federal and provincial parts on the invoice. Canada has no e-invoicing mandate, so a PDF invoice from Skyline Nexus ERP is valid as long as it carries what the buyer needs to claim input tax credits.
Those contents come in three tiers. Under $100 an invoice needs the supplier name, date and total; from $100 to $499.99 it adds the GST/HST number, the tax and each line's tax status; from $500 it adds the buyer's name, payment terms and descriptions. Records are kept for 6 years, and the CRA expects them in Canada unless it grants permission, so ask us where Skyline Nexus data is held.
Moving to Skyline Nexus ERP usually starts from exports of the system you already use: contacts with their opening balances, products and opening stock, and the chart of accounts as CSV or XLSX files. GL opening balances go onto one screen that will not save until debits equal credits, and bank statements arrive as CSV or XLSX imports for reconciliation in Treasury.
With the free trial a Toronto team can try each module on this page, raise test invoices with 13% HST and run a trial balance before committing. Help comes by WhatsApp, phone or e-mail in English rather than from a local office. Groups with several corporations, a clinic network or a property portfolio should book a demo so the entity and branch structure is planned first.
No. As of October 2026 Canada has no e-invoicing mandate for B2B or B2C sales, so a Toronto business may send PDF or paper invoices. Skyline Nexus ERP issues PDF invoices carrying the content the CRA expects for input tax credits, including the GST/HST number from $100 and the buyer's name, terms and descriptions from $500.
Ontario HST is one harmonised rate of 13%, shown as a single tax rather than split into federal and provincial parts. In Skyline Nexus ERP the 13% rate is created once under Tax Rates and applied per line, and the tax report and the tax accounts in the ledger are computed on the same basis, so the HST return figure and the books agree.
Yes. Skyline Nexus ERP sets up each corporation as its own business with a separate chart of accounts, fiscal periods and audit trail, which suits a Bay Street operating company and its holding company. The Consolidation screens snapshot each member's trial balance, eliminate intercompany balances and produce group reports.
Skyline Nexus ERP suits the business side of a Toronto device distributor: stock per warehouse with lot and expiry reports, FIFO costing and a CMMS module for servicing equipment through work orders, planned maintenance and warranty claims. Skyline Nexus does not hold patient or clinical records, so a distributor keeps any regulated clinical system alongside it.
Yes, with a defined scope. Skyline Nexus ERP lets a Toronto company issue a sale in US dollars with an exchange rate entered by hand, and the invoice shows the foreign-currency amounts. The ledger stays in Canadian dollars, so period-end exchange differences on open balances are booked by your accountant as a journal.
Yes. Skyline Nexus ERP has CSV and Excel import templates for contacts with opening balances, products, opening stock, the chart of accounts, sales, purchases and fixed assets. GL opening balances are typed into one balanced screen, and past journals stay in the old system, so most firms start the new ledger at the beginning of a fiscal period.
Yes. A Liberty Village start-up can open a project per client in Skyline Nexus ERP and tag journal lines with that project and a cost centre, so revenue and costs meet in the Cost Center Analysis report. Project budgets, milestones and contracts sit in the same module, and the Budget vs Actual report flags lines that run over.
