Chandigarh at a glance
Chandigarh is a planned city of numbered sectors, each with its own market, and it is the capital of both Punjab and Haryana as well as a Union Territory. Sector 17 is the main shopping district, the Sector 26 Grain Market handles wholesale food, Industrial Area Phase I and II hold small engineering units, and the Chandigarh IT Park hosts software firms.
Because Chandigarh is a Union Territory without a legislature, its businesses charge UTGST instead of SGST on local sales, and every GSTIN here begins with 04. Local administration runs through the Chandigarh Administration. Many Chandigarh firms also have a branch in Mohali or Panchkula, which sit in Punjab and Haryana and need their own GST registrations.
With secretariats, directorates and boards of two States and the UT in one city, Chandigarh has many firms that supply stationery, IT hardware, furniture, uniforms and maintenance services to government buyers. Orders come as purchase orders, delivery is staged, and payment can take months. These suppliers need clean quotations, contract tracking and an exact view of what each department owes.
Skyline Nexus ERP supports this with CRM proposals and follow-ups, projects with tasks, milestones and budgets for staged contracts, and AR ageing by customer, so a Chandigarh supplier sees every unpaid bill by department. Sales and payments post to the ledger, and the Audit Pack puts the trial balance, ledgers, sales and receivables in one Excel workbook for the auditor.
Chandigarh's retail lives in the sector markets and malls, from apparel and electronics shops to bakeries. The hospitals, with PGIMER at the centre, draw patients from across the region, so chemists, diagnostic centres and surgical suppliers cluster around them. A pharmacy chain with outlets in several sectors needs stock per shop, costing by purchase lot and one set of accounts.
Skyline Nexus ERP gives each Chandigarh outlet its own business location, invoice numbering and stock, with stock transfers between shops and location-wise stock reports. The POS runs cash registers at each counter, stock is costed on FIFO or LIFO, and users see only the outlets they are assigned. Branch-level profit and loss shows which sector market earns most.
Imagine a Chandigarh chemist with three sector outlets. Typical billing apps print GST bills and track stock at each counter, but the books are often kept in a separate accounting package or spreadsheet, so the trial balance is rebuilt later. Credit-book apps note who owes money but not stock. Separate accounting packages keep proper books once the outlet sales are exported or re-entered.
Skyline Nexus ERP posts a balanced journal for every final sale once Auto-post Sales Transactions is turned on: sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory. Purchases, payments and expenses post the same way, so a Chandigarh owner sees a current trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet per outlet or for the whole business.
India tax integration
Chandigarh has GST State code 04: every GSTIN registered in Chandigarh starts with 04. Sales inside Chandigarh carry CGST + UTGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

Chandigarh's State code is 04. As a Union Territory without a legislature, it applies UTGST: a sale inside Chandigarh carries CGST plus UTGST at half the rate each, while a sale to Mohali or Panchkula, which lie in other States, carries IGST. Registration is due above INR 20 lakh turnover, or INR 40 lakh for goods-only suppliers, except ice cream, pan masala and tobacco.
In Skyline Nexus ERP a Chandigarh business creates a CGST 9% plus UTGST 9% group and an IGST 18% group and picks one on each sale, since place of supply is not detected automatically. HSN prints from the category code. Suppliers above INR 5 crore need an IRN for B2B invoices, which Skyline Nexus ERP cannot issue yet, and e-way bills and GSTR returns are not live yet.
India onboarding is through the waitlist, a demo or a WhatsApp question on this page. Support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail, and there is no office in Chandigarh or anywhere else in India. Businesses are set up with an April financial year, INR, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore.
A Chandigarh firm should export its items and opening stock per outlet as CSV, list customers, including government departments, and suppliers with GSTIN and balances, and prepare its chart of accounts. A business with a Mohali or Panchkula branch should keep that branch's separate GSTIN and tax groups in mind during the demo.
A Chandigarh business charges UTGST, not SGST, because Chandigarh is a Union Territory without a legislature. Local sales carry CGST plus UTGST and sales to other States carry IGST. Skyline Nexus ERP lets the user build a CGST plus UTGST tax group and select it on local sales.
Yes. Mohali is in Punjab, so a sale from Chandigarh to a Mohali buyer is inter-State and carries IGST. In Skyline Nexus ERP the user chooses the IGST group on that invoice, because the system does not switch between UTGST and IGST by place of supply automatically.
A Chandigarh government supplier can use Skyline Nexus ERP for CRM proposals, project milestones and budgets for staged orders, and AR ageing by department. Sales and receipts post to the ledger, and the Audit Pack exports the year's figures in one workbook.
A pharmacy chain near PGIMER can set up each shop as a business location in Skyline Nexus ERP, with its own stock, invoice series and cash registers. Stock is costed on FIFO or LIFO and transfers move medicines between shops, with branch-level statements.
Many billing apps for a Chandigarh shop print bills and track stock, leaving the books to be prepared separately. Skyline Nexus ERP posts every final sale as a balanced journal once auto-posting is enabled, so the trial balance is current. Some other providers are ahead today on IRN e-invoicing, e-way bills and offline billing, which Skyline Nexus ERP does not offer yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP has an English interface with a Hindi interface translation available, so Chandigarh staff can choose either. INR is available as the currency, dates can be dd-mm-yyyy, and invoices can print the amount in words in lakh and crore.
The first step for a Chandigarh business is the India waitlist form or a demo slot on this page; a quick question can go by WhatsApp. For the demo, have a CSV of products and opening stock per outlet, plus customer and supplier balances, because Skyline Nexus ERP imports those lists and the chart of accounts directly.
Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Chandigarh; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
