Punjab at a glance
Punjab's economy rests on two pillars: farming and the industries that grew around it. Ludhiana makes hosiery, cycles and machine parts, Jalandhar sports goods and hand tools, Mandi Gobindgarh steel, and Mohali hosts IT and services firms beside Chandigarh. Amritsar adds tourism and wholesale. Across Malwa and Doaba, grain mandis, rice shellers, dairies and food processors link the farms to markets.
A Punjab firm registers for GST once per State, so one GSTIN starting with 03 covers a Ludhiana factory, a Jalandhar depot and an Amritsar showroom. Municipal matters go to bodies such as the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, and district administrations in Jalandhar, Patiala and SAS Nagar handle local permissions. The challenge is keeping several district sites in one set of books.
Punjab's factories are mostly MSMEs: a hand-tool maker in Jalandhar, a forging unit in Mandi Gobindgarh, a knitwear exporter in Ludhiana. Many run more than one shed, buy steel or yarn in lots and sell through dealers in other States. Costing is often done on paper, and the true margin of a product line appears only when the accountant closes the year.
Skyline Nexus ERP brings manufacturing into the same system as purchases and stock: work orders, bills of materials and routings, with raw material consumed at FIFO or LIFO cost. Each shed or depot in Punjab can be a business location with its own stock and invoice series. Cost centres and budget-versus-actual reports show which line or unit earns its keep.
Punjab's grain economy runs on seasons. Wheat arrives in April, paddy in October, and rice shellers, flour mills, seed and fertiliser dealers work flat out for a few weeks. Agri-input shops sell on credit until the harvest, then collect. Dairies and food units buy daily from many small suppliers, so purchases and payments pile up fast.
Skyline Nexus ERP records purchases and supplier payments as journals the same way as sales, so a Punjab rice sheller sees what it owes and what stock it holds. Credit customers carry opening balances and AR ageing. The financial year starts in April, matching the wheat season, and period close and year-end entries keep each season's accounts locked once reviewed.
Consider a Punjab agri-input dealer with shops in three towns. Typical billing apps print GST bills and count stock in each shop, while the books are often kept in a separate package or spreadsheet and rebuilt later. Credit-book apps hold the farmers' udhaar but not stock or a full ledger. Separate accounting packages keep sound books, but shop sales arrive by export or re-entry.
With Auto-post Sales Transactions switched on in Skyline Nexus ERP, every final sale in every Punjab branch posts a balanced journal: sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory. Purchases, payments and expenses post likewise. The trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet can be read per branch or consolidated, and a Data Verification report compares POS, GL and trial balance figures.
India tax integration
Punjab has GST State code 03: every GSTIN registered in Punjab starts with 03. Sales inside Punjab carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

Punjab's State code is 03, which opens every GSTIN issued here. Supplies within Punjab carry CGST plus SGST, each at half the rate, and supplies to Haryana, Delhi or any other State carry IGST. The general registration threshold is INR 20 lakh of aggregate turnover; goods-only suppliers may use INR 40 lakh, except for ice cream, pan masala and tobacco.
Skyline Nexus ERP handles Punjab GST through tax groups set up by the user, for example CGST 9% plus SGST 9% inside the State and IGST 18% outside, chosen on each document because there is no automatic place-of-supply switch. HSN prints from the category code. Firms above INR 5 crore must obtain an IRN for B2B invoices, which Skyline Nexus ERP does not support yet; e-way bills and GSTR filing are not live yet either.
India onboarding is through the waitlist, a demo or a WhatsApp question from this page. There is no office in Punjab or elsewhere in India; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail. Each business is configured with an April financial year, INR, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore.
A Punjab firm with sites in several districts should list each factory, depot and shop as a branch, then prepare its item list and opening stock per site as CSV files, customers and suppliers with GSTIN and balances, and its chart of accounts. Manufacturers can add key bills of materials so the demo uses their own products.
No, units inside one State share a single GSTIN, so a Ludhiana factory and a Jalandhar depot both fall under the Punjab registration starting with 03, with additional places of business declared. In Skyline Nexus ERP each site can still be a separate business location with its own stock and numbering.
A Punjab trader must register above INR 20 lakh aggregate turnover in a financial year. A supplier of goods only may use the INR 40 lakh threshold, except for ice cream, pan masala and tobacco. Some suppliers, such as those making inter-State supplies of goods, must register regardless of turnover.
A Punjab rice sheller can record paddy purchases, supplier payments and stock in Skyline Nexus ERP, with purchases posting to the ledger automatically once the accounting toggles are on. Stock is valued on FIFO or LIFO, and the manufacturing module can model milling as work orders with bills of materials.
Skyline Nexus ERP covers manufacturing with work orders, bills of materials and routings, plus inventory and dealer sales in one system, which fits a Jalandhar sports goods maker. Cost centres separate product lines, and branch-level statements show the factory and any outlet separately.
A billing app for a Punjab shop often prints bills and counts stock, while the accounts are prepared separately. Skyline Nexus ERP posts each final sale as a balanced journal once auto-posting is switched on, keeping the trial balance current across branches. Some other providers are ahead today on IRN e-invoicing, e-way bills and offline billing, which Skyline Nexus ERP does not have yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP has an English interface and a Hindi interface translation is available, so staff can switch language per user. The business currency can be INR, dates dd-mm-yyyy, and invoices can show the amount in words in lakh and crore.
Punjab businesses join through the India waitlist or a demo booked on this page, or by asking on WhatsApp. Skyline Nexus ERP imports products, opening stock, contacts with balances and the chart of accounts from CSV, so those files are the first thing to prepare.
Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Punjab; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
