Himachal Pradesh at a glance
Himachal Pradesh has three distinct economies. Tourism fills Shimla, Manali, Kullu, Dharamshala-McLeodganj and Dalhousie with hotels, homestays, cafes and taxi operators. Industry sits low in the foothills, in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh belt, Parwanoo and Kala Amb, where pharmaceutical and consumer-goods plants serve all of India. Higher up, apple orchards in Shimla and Kullu districts feed fruit mandis and cold stores.
A Himachal Pradesh business registers once for the State, with a GSTIN starting with 02, even if it runs a hotel in Manali and an office in Shimla. District administrations in Shimla, Kangra and Kullu handle local permissions. Hill firms often keep accounts with an accountant in the plains, so bills and stock records travel down the mountain every month.
Tourism in Himachal Pradesh is seasonal and sharp: summer and snow holidays bring full houses, then months go quiet. A Manali hotel may run a restaurant, a cafe and a travel desk; a Dharamshala homestay group may manage several properties. Owners need takings by outlet, food and beverage stock, and a clear view of costs before the off-season.
Skyline Nexus ERP offers a POS with cash registers and restaurant and kitchen features, with each property or outlet set up as a business location with its own invoice series and stock. With auto-posting on, sales and the cost of food consumed post to the ledger as they happen, and branch-level profit and loss compares a Himachal Pradesh hotel's seasons with the previous year.
The Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh belt is one of India's pharmaceutical clusters, with formulation units, packaging suppliers and contract manufacturers working for brand owners. Parwanoo and Kala Amb add consumer goods and engineering. These plants buy raw materials and packing in lots, produce in batches against orders and ship mostly to other States, so inter-State tax and costing matter.
Skyline Nexus ERP links manufacturing work orders, bills of materials and routings to purchases and inventory, valuing consumption on FIFO or LIFO so each batch carries real material cost. A Himachal Pradesh plant can separate units or product lines with cost centres and compare budget with actual. Purchases, sales and expenses post to one ledger once the accounting toggles are on.
Consider a Himachal Pradesh apple trader with a cold store and a Shimla shop. Typical billing apps print GST bills and track crates in stock, but the books are often kept in a separate package or spreadsheet and assembled at year end. Credit-book apps record what growers or buyers owe, not stock. Separate accounting packages keep careful books once sales are exported or retyped.
In Skyline Nexus ERP, when Auto-post Sales Transactions is on, every final sale posts a balanced journal: sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory. Purchases from growers, supplier payments and expenses post the same way. The trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet stay current, per branch or consolidated, which helps a hill business whose accountant works remotely.
India tax integration
Himachal Pradesh has GST State code 02: every GSTIN registered in Himachal Pradesh starts with 02. Sales inside Himachal Pradesh carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

Himachal Pradesh uses State code 02 at the start of each GSTIN. A sale inside the State carries CGST plus SGST at half the rate each, and a shipment from Baddi to a distributor in another State carries IGST. Registration is due above INR 20 lakh aggregate turnover, and goods-only suppliers may use INR 40 lakh, except for ice cream, pan masala and tobacco.
Skyline Nexus ERP handles Himachal Pradesh GST through user-built tax groups, for example CGST 9% plus SGST 9% and IGST 18%, chosen per invoice as there is no automatic place-of-supply switch. HSN prints from the category code. Plants above INR 5 crore must obtain IRNs, which Skyline Nexus ERP does not do yet, and e-way bills and GSTR returns remain on the roadmap.
India onboarding runs through the waitlist, a demo or a WhatsApp message on this page. Support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail, with no office in Himachal Pradesh or elsewhere in India. Note that Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service and needs an internet connection; it does not work offline. Setup uses an April financial year, INR, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore.
A hill business should prepare items or menus with opening stock per property as CSV, customers and suppliers with GSTIN and balances, and a chart of accounts. Plants should bring real bills of materials; hotels should list each outlet and property that will become a separate branch in the system.
Himachal Pradesh uses State code 02, so every GSTIN registered in the State starts with 02. Local sales carry CGST plus SGST and sales to other States carry IGST. In Skyline Nexus ERP the user sets up both tax groups and selects one on each sale.
A homestay or shop in Himachal Pradesh must register for GST above INR 20 lakh aggregate turnover in a financial year. Suppliers of goods only may use the INR 40 lakh threshold, except for items like ice cream, pan masala and tobacco. Some suppliers must register regardless of turnover.
A Manali hotel restaurant can use the Skyline Nexus ERP POS with restaurant and kitchen features and cash registers. Each outlet is a business location with its own stock and invoices, and with auto-posting on, food cost and sales reach the books bill by bill.
A Baddi pharma unit can use Skyline Nexus ERP for manufacturing work orders, bills of materials and routings, with materials consumed at FIFO or LIFO cost. Cost centres separate product lines. Batch-level regulatory records for drugs are outside what this page claims, so check them in a demo.
A billing app for a Himachal Pradesh shop often prints bills and counts stock while the books are kept separately. Skyline Nexus ERP posts each final sale as a balanced journal once auto-posting is switched on. Some other providers are ahead today with offline billing, IRN e-invoicing and e-way bills, which Skyline Nexus ERP does not offer yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP runs in English and a Hindi interface translation is available. INR is available as the currency, dates can be set to dd-mm-yyyy, invoices can show the amount in words in lakh and crore, and the financial year can start in April.
A Himachal Pradesh business can join the India waitlist, book a demo or send a WhatsApp message from this page. Skyline Nexus ERP imports products, opening stock, contacts and the chart of accounts from CSV, so those files are worth preparing first.
Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Himachal Pradesh; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
