Amritsar at a glance
Amritsar's trade follows the pilgrims. Visitors to the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh and the Attari-Wagah border fill hotels, dhabas and sweet shops all year, while the walled city's Hall Bazaar and Katra Jaimal Singh sell shawls, suits, dry fruit and spices. Lawrence Road and Ranjit Avenue carry the newer retail, and Focal Point holds small food and engineering units.
An Amritsar business takes its GST registration through the GST portal under the Punjab State jurisdiction and its local permissions through the District Administration Amritsar. Owners with a hotel, a restaurant and a gift shop often run three separate billing systems and send a bag of bills to the accountant every month.
Amritsari kulcha houses, dhabas and mithai shops sell hundreds of small bills a day, with peaks on Gurpurab and long weekends. Hotels near the Golden Temple combine room revenue with a restaurant and sometimes a travel desk. The owner wants each outlet's takings, its food cost and its stock of ghee, flour and sugar in one view.
Skyline Nexus ERP offers a POS with cash registers, restaurant and kitchen features and weighing-scale integration for sweets sold by weight. Each outlet can be its own business location with its own invoice series and stock. With auto-posting switched on, the day's sales and the cost of ingredients consumed reach the ledger the same day, so an Amritsar owner sees margin by outlet.
Amritsar wholesalers sell Phulkari suits, shawls, woollens and dry fruit to retailers across Punjab and other States, often on credit and through agents. Buyers order by phone, goods leave by transport, and partial payments arrive over weeks. A shop with a godown off the main bazaar also needs to know which bales and cartons are where.
Skyline Nexus ERP records each buyer with GSTIN and opening balance and shows AR ageing, so a Katra Jaimal Singh trader knows who has paid and who is late. Purchases from mills post to the ledger with input tax, and location-wise stock reports separate the shop from the godown. The CRM module tracks follow-ups with new retailers and agents.
Picture an Amritsar shawl trader with a retail counter. Typical billing apps print GST bills and keep stock counts, but books are often kept separately, so the trial balance is assembled at month or year end. Credit-book apps track udhaar but not purchases or stock. Separate accounting packages give strong books once the counter's sales are exported or typed in again.
Skyline Nexus ERP takes a different route: when Auto-post Sales Transactions is on, each final bill posts a balanced journal for sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory, and purchases, payments and expenses follow. The trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet are current, by branch or consolidated, so an Amritsar hotel and its sweet shop can be read separately.
India tax integration
Punjab has GST State code 03: every GSTIN registered in Punjab starts with 03. Sales inside Punjab carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

Amritsar sits in Punjab, so every GSTIN registered here begins with 03. Sales within Punjab carry CGST and SGST at half the rate each; a consignment of shawls to a Delhi retailer carries IGST. Registration applies above INR 20 lakh aggregate turnover, or INR 40 lakh for suppliers of goods only, except ice cream, pan masala and tobacco.
Skyline Nexus ERP lets an Amritsar business define tax groups such as a 5% restaurant group split equally between CGST and SGST or IGST 18% for inter-State goods, and the user chooses the group, as place of supply is not detected automatically. HSN prints from the category code. IRN e-invoicing, required above INR 5 crore, is not available in Skyline Nexus ERP yet, and e-way bills and GSTR returns are still on the roadmap.
India onboarding runs through the waitlist on this page, a demo, or a question on WhatsApp. Support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail, with no office in Amritsar or anywhere in India. The business is set up with an April financial year, INR, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore.
An Amritsar hotel or trader should prepare the menu or item list with opening stock as a CSV file, customers and suppliers with GSTIN and balances, a chart of accounts, and the outlets that become branches. Restaurants can add recipes for main dishes, so food cost can be shown on real items during the demo.
A restaurant in Amritsar charges CGST plus SGST on bills to diners, because the supply is within Punjab, and its GSTIN starts with 03. In Skyline Nexus ERP the owner sets up the restaurant tax group once, for example a 5% group split equally between CGST and SGST, and applies it to menu items.
An Amritsar sweet shop must register once aggregate turnover crosses INR 20 lakh in a financial year, or INR 40 lakh if it supplies goods only and none of the excluded items such as ice cream or pan masala. Some suppliers must register regardless of turnover under section 24 of the CGST Act.
Skyline Nexus ERP includes a POS with restaurant and kitchen features and cash registers, and each outlet of an Amritsar hotel can be a separate business location. Ingredient stock is valued on FIFO or LIFO, and with auto-posting on, the cost of food sold reaches the books with each bill.
A dry-fruit wholesaler can use Skyline Nexus ERP to keep buyers with GSTIN and credit balances, see AR ageing, record purchases with input tax and track stock by godown. Sweets or dry fruit sold by weight can use the weighing-scale integration at the counter.
Many billing apps for an Amritsar shop print bills and track stock, while the accounts are built later elsewhere. Skyline Nexus ERP posts every final bill to a balanced ledger once auto-posting is enabled, so the balance sheet stays current. Some billing apps lead today on IRN e-invoicing, e-way bills and offline use, none of which Skyline Nexus ERP offers yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP runs in English with a Hindi interface translation available. Prices and the ledger use INR, dates can be set to dd-mm-yyyy, invoices can print the amount in words using lakh and crore, and the financial year can begin in April.
An Amritsar hotel joins the India waitlist or books a demo on this page, or asks on WhatsApp. Skyline Nexus ERP imports products, opening stock, contacts and the chart of accounts from CSV files, so having the menu, suppliers and balances ready keeps the demo practical.
Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Amritsar; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
