Doing business in Hyderabad

Hyderabad works on two maps. The old city and the centre trade in lanes: Begum Bazar and Osmangunj for groceries and dry fruits, Laad Bazaar beside Charminar for bangles and pearls, Sultan Bazar, Koti and Abids for cloth and general goods. West and north, Madhapur, Gachibowli and the Financial District hold IT firms, while Balanagar, Jeedimetla and Cherlapally run the factories that supply them.

A Hyderabad shop or office takes a trade licence from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, registers for GST on the national portal, and is administered on the State side by the Telangana Commercial Taxes Department. Typical firms are family wholesalers with two or three outlets, job-work units with one big customer, and service companies billing by project.

Modules Hyderabad businesses start with

Wholesale lanes: Begum Bazar to Sultan Bazar

A Begum Bazar kirana wholesaler sells by the bag to retailers from across the city, gives credit for a week or a fortnight, and refills from mills and importers several times a month. Stock sits in a narrow shop and a godown a few streets away. Margins are thin, so a wrong rate or an unbilled bag shows up straight in the profit.

Skyline Nexus ERP gives that Hyderabad trader a POS with cash registers and weighing-scale integration, separate stock for the shop and the godown as two locations, and purchases recorded against suppliers with their GSTIN. FIFO or LIFO costing sets the cost of each bag sold, and receivable ageing shows which retailers are past their credit days.

Job-work and small factories in Balanagar and Cherlapally

The industrial areas of Balanagar, Jeedimetla, Cherlapally and Kukatpally are full of units that machine, mould, print or pack for larger plants. Orders arrive as purchase orders with a drawing or a specification, material is drawn from stock, and the job leaves with a delivery challan and an invoice. Owners want to know which job actually made money.

Skyline Nexus ERP handles this with manufacturing work orders, bills of materials and routings, so material and operations are booked against each order. Cost centres separate a press shop from an assembly line, and budget-versus-actual reports compare plan with outcome. Projects with tasks, milestones and budgets suit the HITEC City service firms that bill by contract stage.

From POS to balance sheet in a Hyderabad shop

Take a Laad Bazaar bangle seller with a second counter in Secunderabad. Typical billing apps would print GST bills and track stock, while an accountant rebuilds the books from exports each quarter. A credit-book app keeps the khata of who owes what but not stock or purchases. A separate accounting package keeps careful books, yet someone re-keys the counter sales into it.

With Auto-post Sales Transactions switched on, Skyline Nexus ERP posts each final sale as a balanced journal covering sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory, so the Hyderabad owner can open a branch-wise trial balance, profit and loss or balance sheet at any time. Purchases, payments and expenses post likewise. Other providers are ahead today on GST return preparation, which Skyline Nexus cannot do yet.

India tax integration

Taxes and compliance in India

Telangana has GST State code 36: every GSTIN registered in Telangana starts with 36. Sales inside Telangana carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.

Built in today

  • GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.

  • Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.

  • Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.

  • Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.

  • An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.

  • Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.

  • With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.

  • Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.

Ready for your accountant

  • Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.

  • Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.

  • Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.

  • Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.

Coming or on request (not live today)

  • Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.

  • HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.

  • GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.

  • E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.

  • E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.

  • Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.

  • Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

GST for a Hyderabad business

A Hyderabad GSTIN starts with 36, the Telangana State code. A sale to a customer elsewhere in Telangana carries CGST plus SGST, half the rate each; a sale shipped to Bengaluru or Vijayawada carries IGST. GST registration is due above INR 20 lakh turnover, and because the INR 40 lakh goods-only option does not apply in Telangana, a goods wholesaler in the city also registers at INR 20 lakh.

Above INR 5 crore aggregate turnover, B2B invoices need an IRN from the IRP, which Skyline Nexus ERP cannot generate yet. What works now: tax groups such as CGST 9% + SGST 9% or IGST 18%, chosen by you for each sale, and an HSN column printed from the category code. E-way bills and GSTR filing are not available, and place-of-supply switching is on the roadmap.

Getting started from Hyderabad

Join the waitlist on this page, book a demo, or ask on WhatsApp; India access is opened in that order. Before the demo, a Hyderabad business can pull together its product list with opening stock per shop and godown, customer and supplier contacts with GSTIN and opening balance, the chart of accounts its accountant uses, and the outlets it wants as branches.

Skyline Nexus ERP is set to an April financial year, INR, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore on invoices. Imports run from CSV files. Help comes by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail; Skyline has no office in India, so there is no walk-in desk in the city.

  1. Name each Hyderabad outlet and godown as a separate location.
  2. Fill the product and opening stock CSV, one sheet per location.
  3. Import retailer and supplier contacts with GSTIN and outstanding balance.
  4. Switch on Auto-post Sales Transactions and check the first day's trial balance.

Questions from Hyderabad businesses

Which GST code does a Hyderabad business have?

A Hyderabad business is registered in Telangana, so its GSTIN starts with State code 36. Sales within Telangana carry CGST and SGST, while sales to other States carry IGST. Skyline Nexus ERP lets you build both tax groups and pick one per sale; Skyline Nexus does not yet choose the group from the delivery address.

At what turnover must a Hyderabad goods wholesaler register for GST?

A Hyderabad goods wholesaler registers above INR 20 lakh aggregate turnover, because the INR 40 lakh goods-only threshold does not apply in Telangana. Certain suppliers must register at any turnover. Once registered, the wholesaler's GSTIN and its customers' GSTINs can be stored in Skyline Nexus ERP.

Can a Begum Bazar wholesaler run credit sales in Skyline Nexus ERP?

Yes. Skyline Nexus ERP records credit sales against each retailer contact, posts them to receivables once auto-posting is on, and shows outstanding amounts in the ageing report. A Hyderabad wholesaler can keep the shop and the godown as separate stock locations and still see one consolidated balance sheet.

Does Skyline Nexus ERP work for a job-work unit in Balanagar?

Skyline Nexus ERP includes work orders, bills of materials and routings, so a Balanagar or Cherlapally unit in Hyderabad can book material and operations to each job. FIFO or LIFO stock costing feeds cost of goods sold. Job-work challan formats specific to GST should be reviewed in a demo.

How is Skyline Nexus ERP different from a billing app for a Hyderabad shop?

Billing apps often stop at the GST bill and the stock count, leaving the books to an accountant. Skyline Nexus ERP posts each final sale of a Hyderabad shop into the ledger when auto-posting is on, so the trial balance and balance sheet are current by branch. Some billing apps are ahead on IRN generation, which Skyline Nexus does not offer yet.

Can my Hyderabad staff use Skyline Nexus ERP in Hindi?

Skyline Nexus ERP runs in English and offers a Hindi interface translation, along with other languages. Amounts are in INR, dates can be dd-mm-yyyy, and invoice totals can be written in words in lakh and crore. Hyderabad teams wanting another Indian language should ask during the demo.

How long does it take to move a Hyderabad shop onto Skyline Nexus ERP?

The timing depends on how clean the product and contact lists are. A Hyderabad shop joins the waitlist, books a demo, then imports products, opening stock, contacts and the chart of accounts from CSV files into Skyline Nexus ERP. Support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail, with no office in India.

Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Hyderabad; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
