Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India
Skyline Nexus ERP gives a Chennai showroom, wholesaler or workshop one system for the counter, the stockroom and the ledger.
Final sales can post their own journals, so a Chennai owner reads a current balance sheet instead of waiting for the accountant.

Chennai at a glance
Chennai's commerce sits in a few unmistakable places. T. Nagar packs saree, jewellery and electronics showrooms along Ranganathan Street and Usman Road; George Town and Parry's Corner hold the old wholesale lanes; Koyambedu moves vegetables, fruit and flowers before dawn. Westward, the Guindy and Ambattur industrial estates host the workshops that feed the car plants, and Old Mahabalipuram Road is lined with IT offices.
A Chennai business takes its trade licence from the Greater Chennai Corporation, while exporters in the MEPZ Special Economic Zone at Tambaram follow zone procedures. Many owners run a showroom plus a godown, or a workshop plus a sales office, and the daily pain is the same: the counter, the stock register and the accounts live in different places.
The Ambattur and Guindy estates are full of small and mid-sized firms that machine, press, paint or assemble parts for larger plants in Sriperumbudur and Oragadam. Their work arrives as purchase orders with tight schedules, and their raw material, from steel to fasteners, has to be issued against jobs and costed properly before the invoice leaves the gate.
Skyline Nexus ERP handles this with manufacturing work orders, bills of materials and routings, consuming raw material from stock valued by FIFO or LIFO. When a Chennai workshop invoices the finished parts, Skyline Nexus posts cost of goods alongside the sale once auto-posting is on. Maintenance work orders for machines and an asset register sit in the same system.
A Chennai textile or jewellery retailer often has a flagship in T. Nagar and smaller branches in Anna Nagar, Velachery or Tambaram. Festival weeks before Deepavali and Pongal bring queues at every till, and the owner wants each counter's sales, returns and cash reconciled the same night, branch by branch.
Skyline Nexus ERP runs point of sale with cash registers per counter and treats each Chennai showroom as a business location with its own invoice numbering, layout and payment methods. Stock is held per location and can be transferred between showrooms. Cashiers can be limited to their own branch, and the trial balance, P&L and balance sheet can be filtered by location.
Take a George Town hardware or provisions wholesaler with a retail counter in front and a godown behind. Typical billing apps print the GST bill and keep a stock count, but the books are often kept elsewhere, so the trial balance is rebuilt at month end from exported reports. Credit-book apps track which Chennai retailer owes what, yet not stock, purchases or a double-entry ledger.
Separate accounting packages are strong on books, but counter sales are re-keyed or imported. In Skyline Nexus ERP, once Auto-post Sales Transactions is switched on, each final sale posts a balanced journal covering sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory, and supplier bills, payments and expenses post the same way, with stock and CRM follow-ups in one place.
India tax integration
Tamil Nadu has GST State code 33: every GSTIN registered in Tamil Nadu starts with 33. Sales inside Tamil Nadu carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

A Chennai GSTIN starts with 33, the Tamil Nadu State code. Selling to a customer in Tambaram or Coimbatore means CGST plus SGST at half the rate each; shipping the same goods to Bengaluru means IGST at the full rate. A Chennai shop must register above INR 20 lakh turnover, or INR 40 lakh if it supplies goods only and none of the excluded items.
Skyline Nexus ERP lets you build tax groups such as CGST 9% plus SGST 9% or IGST 18% and pick the right one on each sale yourself, and the invoice can show an HSN column from the category code. A Chennai supplier above INR 5 crore turnover needs an IRN from the IRP for B2B invoices, which Skyline Nexus does not generate yet; e-way bills and GSTR returns are not available either.
Skyline Nexus ERP onboards Indian customers through the India waitlist and a demo for now; use Join the waitlist, Book a demo or Ask on WhatsApp on this page. A Chennai showroom should prepare its product list with opening stock as a CSV file, customers and suppliers with GSTIN and opening balances, its chart of accounts and the list of branches.
Skyline Nexus is configured with an April financial year, INR as the business currency, dd-mm-yyyy dates and invoice amounts in words in lakh and crore, which suits the way Chennai customers and auditors read a bill. Help comes by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail during onboarding and afterwards; there is no office in Chennai or elsewhere in India.
A Chennai shop selling goods delivered to Bengaluru charges IGST at the full rate, because the sale leaves Tamil Nadu. Within Tamil Nadu the same item carries CGST plus SGST. In Skyline Nexus ERP the user chooses the IGST or CGST plus SGST tax group on the sale; automatic switching by place of supply is not available yet.
A Chennai provision store that supplies goods only can stay unregistered up to INR 40 lakh aggregate turnover, unless it sells ice cream, pan masala or tobacco, where the INR 20 lakh threshold applies. Some suppliers must register regardless of turnover. Skyline Nexus ERP can run with or without a GSTIN on the business.
Skyline Nexus ERP treats each showroom as a business location with its own invoice numbering, payment methods and stock. A Chennai retailer with branches in T. Nagar, Anna Nagar and Velachery can move stock between them, limit staff to their branch and read branch-wise trial balance and P&L.
Skyline Nexus ERP includes manufacturing work orders, bills of materials and routings, plus maintenance work orders for machines. An Ambattur workshop in Chennai can issue raw material against jobs, value stock by FIFO or LIFO and see cost of goods posted when the parts are invoiced.
A billing app usually prints the GST bill and counts stock, while the Chennai shop's accounts are often kept in a separate package. Skyline Nexus ERP posts each final sale as a balanced journal once auto-posting is switched on, so the balance sheet is current. Some billing tools already offer IRN e-invoicing, which Skyline Nexus does not have yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP has an English interface and a Hindi interface translation, among many other languages. Chennai businesses keep amounts in INR, can show dates as dd-mm-yyyy, and can print invoice amounts in words in the Indian system of lakh and crore.
No fixed timeline is promised. A Chennai business joins the India waitlist or books a demo, then imports products, opening stock, contacts with opening balances and the chart of accounts from CSV files. Having those files ready is what decides how quickly Skyline Nexus ERP can go live.
Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Chennai; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
