Doing business in Tiruppur

The Tiruppur district administration calls its home the Textile City, and the label fits. Knitting, dyeing, printing, compacting and stitching units line Avinashi Road, Palladam Road and Kangeyam Road, while yarn agents and fabric brokers cluster around Khaderpet. Export growth through the 1990s is the reason Tiruppur gained its own corporation and district.

A Tiruppur unit takes its trade licence from the Tiruppur City Municipal Corporation, and exporters usually belong to the Apparel Export Promotion Council. The defining feature is the job-work chain: yarn bought by one firm is knitted by a second, dyed by a third and stitched by a fourth, so every owner juggles material sent out, material received back and invoices in both directions.

Modules Tiruppur businesses start with

Tiruppur knitwear manufacturing

A Tiruppur garment maker plans by style and order: so many kilos of yarn for a T-shirt order, fabric weight after knitting, loss in dyeing, pieces after cutting, and trims for each size. Profit on an order depends on how closely those quantities and costs match what was quoted to the buyer.

Skyline Nexus ERP handles this through manufacturing work orders, bills of materials and routings. A bill of materials can list yarn, fabric, labels, elastic and cartons per garment, and each work order consumes them from stock valued by FIFO or LIFO. When a Tiruppur unit invoices the finished garments, Skyline Nexus posts cost of goods with the sale once auto-posting is switched on.

Yarn, fabric and domestic wholesale in Tiruppur

Not every Tiruppur firm exports. Many sell innerwear, T-shirts and nightwear to wholesalers across India, and others trade yarn or fabric only. They buy on credit, sell on credit and keep stock in more than one godown, so outstanding balances and stock by location matter more than anything else.

Skyline Nexus ERP keeps stock per godown as separate business locations, with transfers between them and location-wise stock reports. Customer and supplier ageing shows which buyer or yarn mill is overdue. Projects with tasks, milestones and budgets can follow a large domestic order from sampling to dispatch, and CRM keeps leads and proposals for new buyers in the same Tiruppur system.

From POS to balance sheet for a Tiruppur innerwear wholesaler

Imagine a Tiruppur innerwear wholesaler with a sales counter on Kangeyam Road and two godowns. Typical billing apps print GST bills and keep a stock count, but the books are often kept elsewhere, so the trial balance is rebuilt at year end. Credit-book apps track what retailers owe, but not yarn, fabric or a double-entry ledger.

Separate accounting packages keep the books well, though counter sales are re-keyed or imported. With Skyline Nexus ERP, once Auto-post Sales Transactions is switched on, every final sale posts a balanced journal covering sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory; purchases, payments and expenses post the same way, and manufacturing work orders live alongside them.

India tax integration

Taxes and compliance in India

Tamil Nadu has GST State code 33: every GSTIN registered in Tamil Nadu starts with 33. Sales inside Tamil Nadu carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.

Built in today

  • GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.

  • Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.

  • Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.

  • Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.

  • An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.

  • Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.

  • With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.

  • Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.

Ready for your accountant

  • Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.

  • Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.

  • Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.

  • Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.

Coming or on request (not live today)

  • Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.

  • HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.

  • GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.

  • E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.

  • E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.

  • Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.

  • Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

GST for a Tiruppur business

A Tiruppur GSTIN begins with 33 like every other Tamil Nadu registration. Garments sold to a Coimbatore or Erode buyer carry CGST plus SGST, each at half the rate, while consignments to Delhi or Kolkata wholesalers carry IGST. The registration threshold is INR 20 lakh, or INR 40 lakh for suppliers of goods only, except ice cream, pan masala and tobacco.

Skyline Nexus ERP has no preset Indian rates, so you create the tax groups your garments need, such as CGST 9% plus SGST 9% or IGST 18%, pick one per invoice and print an HSN column from the category code. Tiruppur suppliers above INR 5 crore turnover must report B2B and export invoices to the IRP, which Skyline Nexus does not do yet.

Getting started from Tiruppur

Skyline Nexus ERP onboarding in India works through the India waitlist on this page and a demo: Join the waitlist, Book a demo or Ask on WhatsApp. A Tiruppur unit should prepare its yarn, fabric and garment items with opening stock as CSV, a sample bill of materials, buyers and suppliers with GSTIN and balances, and its chart of accounts.

Garment units close their books in March like everyone else, so Skyline Nexus starts the financial year in April, keeps figures in INR, shows dates as dd-mm-yyyy and can spell invoice totals in lakh and crore. Questions are answered over WhatsApp, phone and e-mail, because Skyline Nexus has no office in Tiruppur or elsewhere in India.

  1. List yarn counts, fabrics, trims and finished styles as products.
  2. Write one bill of materials per best-selling style and size.
  3. Collect balances owed by and to buyers, job workers and yarn mills.
  4. Book a demo to run one sample order from yarn to invoice.

Questions from Tiruppur businesses

Can Skyline Nexus ERP plan a Tiruppur T-shirt order by bill of materials?

Skyline Nexus ERP supports bills of materials, routings and work orders. A Tiruppur T-shirt order can list yarn or fabric, labels and cartons per piece, consume them from stock and post cost of goods when the garments are invoiced, with FIFO or LIFO costing.

Does Skyline Nexus ERP track job work sent to dyeing units in Tiruppur?

A job-work challan register is not among the Skyline Nexus ERP features described for India. A Tiruppur unit can record dyeing and printing charges as purchases or expenses and follow each order through work orders, but the flow of goods sent out for job work should be tested in a demo before relying on Skyline Nexus for it.

What GST applies when a Tiruppur unit ships garments to Delhi?

A Tiruppur unit shipping garments to Delhi charges IGST, because the goods leave Tamil Nadu. Sales to buyers within Tamil Nadu carry CGST plus SGST. In Skyline Nexus ERP the user picks the correct tax group on the invoice; automatic place-of-supply switching is not available yet.

Can a Tiruppur exporter above INR 5 crore use Skyline Nexus ERP today?

A Tiruppur exporter above INR 5 crore aggregate turnover must obtain an IRN for export and B2B invoices, which Skyline Nexus ERP cannot do yet. Such exporters should join the waitlist rather than move invoicing now. Smaller Tiruppur units can review the rest of the system in a demo.

How is Skyline Nexus ERP different from a billing app for a Tiruppur shop?

A billing app at a Tiruppur shop usually prints GST bills and counts stock, while the accounts are often kept in a separate package. Skyline Nexus ERP, once auto-posting is switched on, posts each final sale as a balanced journal and also runs manufacturing work orders, so garments, stock and books share one record.

Does Skyline Nexus ERP work in Hindi and INR for Tiruppur buyers and staff?

Skyline Nexus ERP has an English interface with a Hindi interface translation, useful for staff who come to Tiruppur from other States. Amounts are in INR, dates can be dd-mm-yyyy, and invoices can show amounts in words in lakh and crore.

How does a Tiruppur unit move its data into Skyline Nexus ERP?

A Tiruppur unit joins the India waitlist or books a demo, then imports products, opening stock, contacts with GSTIN and opening balances, and the chart of accounts from CSV files. Skyline Nexus ERP does not import journals on screen, so opening balances come in through contacts and accounts.

Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Tiruppur; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
