Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Skyline Nexus ERP gives a Mumbai trader one system for the counter, the godown and the books, from a Masjid Bunder wholesale shop to a chain of suburban outlets.
Each final sale can post its own journal, so the trial balance is current; IRN e-invoicing and GSTR returns are not live yet, and onboarding is by waitlist and demo.
Plans from $19 per month, plus VAT where it applies · Prices shown in USD; we do not publish a price list for India yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP cannot yet meet the e-invoicing rules that apply to your business in India. Leave your details and we will contact you when it can.
Mumbai at a glance
Business in Mumbai is packed into lanes and markets. Crawford Market and Masjid Bunder trade dry fruit, spices and household goods, Mangaldas Market sells cloth, and Zaveri Bazaar deals in gold. Offices cluster at Fort, Nariman Point and Bandra Kurla Complex, small units fill Andheri MIDC, and the APMC complex at Vashi feeds the city with produce.
A typical Mumbai firm is a family-run trader or retailer with one or two outlets, a godown in Bhiwandi or Navi Mumbai and an outside accountant. It registers for GST on the common portal, takes its trade licence and shop registration from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ward office, and exporters in SEEPZ work under the special economic zone rules.
A Mumbai wholesaler sells on credit to retailers across the city and beyond, buys in bulk from mills and importers, and keeps stock partly in the shop and partly in a godown. The daily problem is knowing which buyer owes what, which lot sold at what margin, and whether the stock register agrees with the books.
Skyline Nexus ERP records the shop and the godown as separate locations with their own stock, and moves goods between them by stock transfer. Purchases and payments post to the ledger once the accounting toggles are on, FIFO or LIFO costing sets the cost of each sale, and receivable ageing lists every Mumbai buyer by days outstanding, ready for the next collection round.
Retail in Mumbai means high footfall in small spaces: garment shops on Linking Road, electronics in Lamington Road, pharmacies and grocers in every suburb from Dadar to Malad and Thane. Many owners run three or four outlets, each with its own staff, cash drawer and stock, and want to see the day's sales by outlet without phoning each one.
In Skyline Nexus ERP every outlet is a business location with its own invoice numbering, layout, payment methods and cash registers, and staff only see the outlets assigned to them. Weighing-scale integration helps grocers, restaurant and kitchen features help eateries, and the P&L can be filtered for one Mumbai outlet or shown for all outlets together.
Think of a dry-fruit wholesaler near Masjid Bunder with a retail counter in Dadar. Many typical billing apps print a GST bill and reduce stock, and the books are often kept by the accountant in a separate package, so the trial balance is assembled at month end. Credit-book apps track udhaar well but leave out stock, purchases and double-entry accounts.
Separate accounting packages offer strong books, but counter sales are usually exported or typed in again. With Skyline Nexus ERP and Auto-post Sales Transactions switched on, each final POS sale posts a balanced journal covering sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory, so the Mumbai trader sees a current trial balance, P&L and balance sheet per branch. Other tools are ahead today on some GST filing features.
India tax integration
Maharashtra has GST State code 27: every GSTIN registered in Maharashtra starts with 27. Sales inside Maharashtra carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

A GSTIN issued to a Mumbai business begins with 27, the Maharashtra State code. A Mumbai shop selling to a customer in Thane or Pune charges CGST and SGST, each at half the rate; a sale to a buyer in Surat or Bengaluru carries IGST at the full rate. Registration is required above INR 20 lakh turnover, or INR 40 lakh for goods-only suppliers, with exceptions.
Skyline Nexus ERP handles GST through tax groups you create, such as CGST 9% with SGST 9% or IGST 18%, and you select the intra-State or inter-State group on each sale; HSN can print from the category code. A Mumbai supplier above INR 5 crore must obtain an IRN for B2B invoices, which Skyline Nexus cannot do yet. E-way bills, GSTR returns and place-of-supply switching are still on the roadmap.
Skyline Nexus ERP is open to Indian businesses through the India waitlist on this page and a guided demo, using the Join the waitlist, Book a demo and Ask on WhatsApp buttons. A Mumbai trader should gather the item list with opening stock per shop and godown, buyers and suppliers with GSTIN and opening balances, and the accountant's chart of accounts.
The account is set up in INR with an April financial year, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore on the invoice. Help comes by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail, and there is no office in India. A Mumbai supplier that already needs IRN e-invoicing should join the waitlist instead of moving its billing now.
A Mumbai GSTIN starts with 27, the State code for Maharashtra. Sales from Mumbai to customers inside Maharashtra carry CGST plus SGST, and sales to other States carry IGST. Skyline Nexus ERP stores these as tax groups, and the user picks the intra-State or inter-State group, because automatic switching by place of supply is not available yet.
A small Mumbai shop needs GST registration once its aggregate turnover passes INR 20 lakh in a financial year, or INR 40 lakh if it supplies goods only and does not sell ice cream, pan masala or tobacco. Some suppliers must register whatever their turnover. The rule comes from section 22 and section 24 of the CGST Act.
Skyline Nexus ERP can treat a Mumbai wholesale shop and a Bhiwandi godown as two locations with separate stock, transfers between them and location-wise stock reports. Sales, purchases and payments post to the ledger once auto-posting is on, while stock transfers do not create ledger entries.
Skyline Nexus ERP suits a chain of Mumbai retail outlets that wants one system: each outlet gets its own invoice numbering, cash registers and stock, staff can be limited to their outlet, and the trial balance, P&L and balance sheet can be shown per outlet or consolidated across the chain.
Many billing apps used in Mumbai shops print GST bills and track stock, while the accounts often live elsewhere. Skyline Nexus ERP posts each final sale as a double-entry journal once Auto-post Sales Transactions is on, keeping the balance sheet current. Some billing apps are ahead today with IRN e-invoicing and GSTR features that Skyline Nexus does not have yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP runs in English, and a Hindi interface translation is available alongside many other languages, so Mumbai counter staff can choose. Amounts are kept in INR, dates can follow dd-mm-yyyy, and invoices can show the amount in words in lakh and crore.
A Mumbai business moves onto Skyline Nexus ERP by joining the India waitlist or booking a demo here. Products, opening stock, contacts with GSTIN and opening balances, and the chart of accounts can then be imported from CSV files. Support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail, without an office in India.
Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Mumbai; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
