Meghalaya at a glance
Shillong is the commercial heart of Meghalaya: Police Bazar for hotels, cafes and shops, Iewduh (Bara Bazar) for wholesale produce and household goods. Tura serves the Garo Hills, Jowai the Jaintia Hills, Dawki the border with Bangladesh, and Byrnihat on the Assam border hosts cement and ferro-alloy units. Colleges such as IIM Shillong and NIT Meghalaya add student spending.
Shops in Shillong take a trade licence from the Shillong Municipal Board, while industrial registration, incentives and clearances go through the Commerce and Industries Department and the Invest Meghalaya Authority. GST registration is with the State. Skyline Nexus ERP lets a Meghalaya owner with a cafe in Shillong and a store in Tura run each as a location under one ledger.
Visitors come to Meghalaya for the living-root bridges, Sohra's waterfalls, the clear river at Dawki and the village of Mawlynnong, and many stay in Shillong. Hotels, homestays and cafes here juggle a restaurant, a small bar or bakery counter, and supplies bought in bulk from Guwahati, with busy weekends and quiet monsoon weeks.
Skyline Nexus ERP runs the restaurant and counter with its POS, kitchen features and cash registers, keeps stock per outlet and posts each final bill to the ledger once auto-posting is enabled. Purchases of provisions post the same way, cost centres show which property earns, and budgets versus actual help plan the season. Statements filter by branch.
Lakadong turmeric from the Jaintia Hills, Khasi mandarin, pineapple, areca nut, ginger and broom grass give many Meghalaya traders their business. Aggregators collect from villages, dry, grade and pack, then sell to buyers in Guwahati and further away. Moisture loss, grading and freight all change what a kilogram finally costs.
A produce trader in Meghalaya can use Skyline Nexus ERP to record purchases from growers, hold stock by grade at each godown, and turn raw turmeric into packed powder through manufacturing work orders and bills of materials. FIFO costing carries the true cost into each sale, and the CRM tracks buyers, proposals and follow-ups.
Picture a Police Bazar retailer with a second shop in Tura. Typical billing apps print GST bills and count stock, yet the books are often kept separately by an accountant, so the trial balance is rebuilt at month or year end. Credit-book apps record who owes what, not stock or purchases. Separate accounting packages keep careful books, while counter sales are re-typed.
With Skyline Nexus ERP, once an administrator enables Auto-post Sales Transactions, every final sale in Meghalaya posts a balanced journal for sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory; purchases, payments and expenses follow. The owner reads trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet for Shillong, Tura or both. Other tools are ahead today on GST filing features.
India tax integration
Meghalaya has GST State code 17: every GSTIN registered in Meghalaya starts with 17. Sales inside Meghalaya carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

Every Meghalaya GSTIN starts with State code 17. Inside Meghalaya a sale carries CGST plus SGST at half the rate each, while a sale to Assam or any other State carries IGST at the full rate. Registration is required above INR 20 lakh aggregate turnover, and the INR 40 lakh goods-only threshold does not apply in Meghalaya, so goods suppliers use the general limit.
Skyline Nexus ERP handles GST with tax groups you set up, for example CGST 9% + SGST 9% or IGST 18%, and you choose the intra-State or inter-State group; an HSN column prints from the category code. Firms above INR 5 crore need IRNs for B2B invoices, which Skyline Nexus ERP cannot issue yet, and e-way bills and GSTR returns are not available yet.
India onboarding is by the waitlist on this page and a demo, through Join the waitlist, Book a demo or Ask on WhatsApp. A Meghalaya business should prepare products, menu items and opening stock per outlet in CSV, customers and suppliers with GSTIN and balances, a chart of accounts and its list of outlets.
Skyline Nexus ERP uses an April financial year, INR, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore. It is a cloud service, so counters in Shillong, Tura or Jowai need internet. Support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail, with no office in India; a hotel group should book a demo first.
A Meghalaya GSTIN begins with State code 17. Skyline Nexus ERP saves each contact's GSTIN, which helps staff pick CGST plus SGST for a buyer inside Meghalaya or IGST for a buyer in another State. The user chooses the tax group; there is no automatic switching.
No. Meghalaya did not adopt the higher INR 40 lakh limit for goods-only suppliers, so a trader in Shillong or Tura must register once aggregate turnover passes INR 20 lakh, and certain suppliers must register at any turnover. Skyline Nexus ERP can run billing and stock both before and after a Meghalaya business registers.
Yes. A Shillong cafe can use the Skyline Nexus ERP restaurant POS with kitchen features, keep ingredients as stock and post every final bill to the ledger once auto-posting is enabled. Skyline Nexus ERP does not bill offline, so a reliable connection is needed.
A turmeric trader in Meghalaya can record grower purchases in Skyline Nexus ERP, convert raw turmeric into packed powder through manufacturing work orders and bills of materials, and carry the cost into each sale with FIFO costing. Stock can be held by grade at each godown.
No. Skyline Nexus ERP does not prepare or file GSTR returns yet, and IRN e-invoicing and e-way bills are also not live. A Meghalaya firm would keep filing through its accountant or the GST portal while using Skyline Nexus ERP for billing, stock and books.
Many billing apps print GST bills and track stock while the books are completed elsewhere. Skyline Nexus ERP posts each final sale of a Meghalaya shop to a balanced journal once auto-posting is on, so trial balance and balance sheet stay current per branch. Billing apps may be ahead on GST filing.
Skyline Nexus ERP has an English interface and a Hindi interface translation is available, which suits teams in Meghalaya who work mainly in English. Accounts run in INR, dates show as dd-mm-yyyy and invoices print amounts in words in lakh and crore.
Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Meghalaya; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
