Assam at a glance
Assam is several business regions at once. Guwahati and Amingaon distribute for the whole North-East, the Dibrugarh and Tinsukia belt lives on tea and oil, Silchar serves the Barak Valley, and Bongaigaon and Numaligarh are refinery towns. A company with depots in three of these places must keep three sets of stock and customers in one picture.
Firms register for GST with returns handled by the Commissionerate of Taxes, Assam. Factories deal with the Industries and Commerce Department and estates of the Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, while produce moves through markets of the Assam State Agricultural Marketing Board. Skyline Nexus ERP treats each depot as a location with its own numbering and stock.
Tea shapes Upper Assam and the Barak Valley. A garden buys fertiliser, packing and spares, takes in bought leaf from small growers, makes tea in its own factory and sells through the auction or private contracts. Owners in Assam want to know what a kilogram really cost at each garden, not only company-wide.
Skyline Nexus ERP can hold each garden and its factory as a separate location with its own stock. Purchases of leaf and inputs post to the ledger once auto-posting is switched on, manufacturing work orders and bills of materials record what went into a batch, and cost centres with budgets versus actual show which garden is over plan. FIFO or LIFO costing drives the cost of goods sold.
Around Duliajan, Digboi and Numaligarh, many small firms supply the oil and refining companies with fittings, safety gear, vehicle hire, catering and maintenance crews. Work comes as purchase orders with milestones, and margins in Assam depend on tracking material issued to each job and chasing payments that arrive weeks after the bill.
For these contractors Skyline Nexus ERP offers projects with tasks, milestones and budgets, purchases that post journals automatically, and receivables ageing. CMMS maintenance and asset management record work orders and equipment for firms that service plant, while cost centres per contract and the Audit Pack, one Excel workbook of statements and ledgers, help at year end.
Picture a distributor with a godown in Guwahati and a branch in Dibrugarh. Typical billing apps print GST bills and count stock, but the books often sit in an accountant's package or a spreadsheet, so the trial balance is rebuilt at year end. Ledger-only apps record who owes what, not stock. Separate accounting packages keep strong books, but counter sales are re-keyed.
Skyline Nexus ERP takes a different route. Once an administrator turns on Auto-post Sales Transactions, every final POS sale in Assam posts a balanced journal for sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory, and purchases, payments and expenses post the same way. Trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet stay current and filter by branch. Other tools are ahead today on GST filing features, covered next.
India tax integration
Assam has GST State code 18: every GSTIN registered in Assam starts with 18. Sales inside Assam carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

Every GSTIN registered in Assam begins with State code 18. A sale within Assam carries CGST plus SGST at half the rate each, while a sale to Meghalaya, West Bengal or any other State carries IGST at the full rate. Registration is due above INR 20 lakh aggregate turnover, and Assam lets suppliers of goods only use the INR 40 lakh threshold, except ice cream, pan masala and tobacco.
In Skyline Nexus ERP you set up GST rates as tax groups, for example CGST 9% + SGST 9% or IGST 18%, pick the intra-State or inter-State group yourself, and can print an HSN column from the category code. Suppliers above INR 5 crore aggregate turnover need an IRN from the IRP for B2B invoices, which Skyline Nexus ERP does not do yet, and e-way bills, GSTR returns and place-of-supply switching are not live yet.
India onboarding is by the waitlist on this page and a demo: Join the waitlist, Book a demo or Ask on WhatsApp. An Assam business should first gather products with opening stock per branch for CSV import, customers and suppliers with GSTIN and opening balances, a chart of accounts, and its list of locations.
Skyline Nexus ERP is set up with a financial year starting in April, INR, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore. Support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail; there is no office in India. Firms in Assam with several branches or a factory should book a demo before importing data.
An Assam GSTIN starts with State code 18. Skyline Nexus ERP stores the GSTIN on each customer and supplier, so staff can see whether a buyer is inside Assam, where CGST plus SGST applies, or in another State, where IGST applies. The user picks the tax group; it is not switched automatically.
Yes. Assam lets suppliers of goods only register once aggregate turnover passes INR 40 lakh instead of INR 20 lakh, except ice cream, pan masala and tobacco. A business that also supplies services uses the general threshold. Skyline Nexus ERP works before or after registration.
No, not yet. Suppliers in Assam above INR 5 crore aggregate turnover must report B2B invoices to an IRP and receive an IRN, and Skyline Nexus ERP has no IRP connection today. E-way bills and GSTR returns are not available yet either; India onboarding is by waitlist and demo.
Yes. A tea company in Assam can set up each garden and factory as a location in Skyline Nexus ERP, with stock per location and cost centres with budgets versus actual. Leaf purchases post journals once auto-posting is on, and work orders with bills of materials record each batch.
Skyline Nexus ERP suits contractors around Duliajan and Digboi who need projects with milestones and budgets, purchases posted to the ledger, receivables ageing and maintenance work orders. Indian payroll is not available, so salaries are handled outside and posted as expenses.
Many billing apps print GST bills and track stock, while the books are often kept elsewhere and rebuilt at year end. Skyline Nexus ERP posts each final POS sale to a balanced journal once auto-posting is on, so an Assam shop sees current statements per branch. Billing apps may be ahead on GST filing tools today.
Skyline Nexus ERP has an English interface, and a Hindi interface translation is available. Invoices and ledgers are kept in INR, dates can show as dd-mm-yyyy, and amounts print in words using lakh and crore, which suits customers and accountants across Assam.
Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Assam; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
