Nagaland at a glance
Nagaland's commerce has two poles. Dimapur, in the plains with the State's railhead and airport, is where goods arrive and wholesalers stock up; Kohima, up the hill, is the capital with offices, hotels and shops. Mokokchung, Wokha and Tuensang are district markets, and the Industrial Growth Centre at Ganesh Nagar near Dimapur hosts small units.
Firms register for GST and deal with the Department of Taxes, Government of Nagaland, which keeps its commissionerate in Dimapur. Industrial schemes run through the Department of Industries and Commerce, and many licences start on the Ease of Doing Business Nagaland portal. Skyline Nexus ERP lets an owner with a Dimapur depot and a Kohima shop see both in one ledger.
Dimapur distributors supply groceries, hardware, medicines and consumer goods to Kohima, Mokokchung and villages across Nagaland, often extending credit to retailers who pay after the harvest or after salaries are paid. Goods come in by rail and road from Guwahati and Kolkata, so a late consignment can empty shelves in several districts at once.
Skyline Nexus ERP keeps each Dimapur depot and outlet as a location with its own stock and invoice numbering, moves stock between them and reports stock by location. Sales and purchases post to the ledger once auto-posting is switched on, receivables ageing shows which retailer is overdue, and FIFO or LIFO costing gives the margin per product line.
Each December the Hornbill Festival at Kisama near Kohima fills hotels, homestays, caterers and taxi operators across Nagaland, and the Department of Tourism promotes village and heritage tourism through the rest of the year. Hospitality owners must buy, staff and price for one very busy fortnight and many quieter months.
For a Kohima hotel or caterer, Skyline Nexus ERP offers a restaurant POS with kitchen features, stock per outlet, and purchases posted to the ledger. A festival catering contract can be run as a project with a budget and milestones, cost centres separate rooms from food and events, and budgets versus actual show whether the season paid off.
Imagine a Kohima retailer who restocks from a family depot in Dimapur. Typical billing apps print GST bills and keep stock counts, while the books are often kept separately and the trial balance is rebuilt at month or year end. Credit-book apps note customer dues but not stock or a full ledger. Separate accounting packages give dependable books, though counter sales are re-keyed.
With Skyline Nexus ERP, after Auto-post Sales Transactions is enabled, every final sale in Nagaland posts a balanced journal for sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory, and purchases, payments and expenses post in the same way. Trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet show Kohima, Dimapur or both together. Other tools are ahead today on GST return filing.
India tax integration
Nagaland has GST State code 13: every GSTIN registered in Nagaland starts with 13. Sales inside Nagaland carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.

Nagaland GSTINs carry State code 13 as their first two digits. A sale inside Nagaland is taxed as CGST plus SGST at half the rate each, and a sale to Assam, Manipur or any other State as IGST at the full rate. Being a special-category State, Nagaland requires registration once turnover crosses INR 10 lakh, and goods suppliers there get no INR 40 lakh threshold.
In Skyline Nexus ERP you configure tax groups like CGST 9% + SGST 9% or IGST 18%, select the intra-State or inter-State group yourself and can print an HSN column from the category code. B2B invoices of suppliers above INR 5 crore need an IRN, which Skyline Nexus ERP cannot obtain yet, and e-way bills are not generated yet either.
India onboarding is through the waitlist on this page and a demo: Join the waitlist, Book a demo or Ask on WhatsApp. A Nagaland business should prepare products and opening stock per depot or shop in CSV, retailers and suppliers with GSTIN and balances, a chart of accounts and its locations.
Skyline Nexus ERP runs with an April financial year, INR, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore. It is cloud-based, so counters in Dimapur and Kohima need internet. Support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail; there is no office in India, so a demo call is the usual first step.
In Nagaland, a special-category State, GST registration becomes compulsory once aggregate turnover crosses INR 10 lakh in a financial year. The higher INR 40 lakh limit for goods-only suppliers is not available there. Skyline Nexus ERP can be used both before and after a Nagaland firm registers.
Every Nagaland GSTIN begins with State code 13. Skyline Nexus ERP saves the GSTIN on each customer and supplier, helping staff choose CGST plus SGST for a buyer inside Nagaland or IGST for one in another State. The user selects the group on each sale.
Yes. A Dimapur distributor can run each depot as a location in Skyline Nexus ERP, transfer stock between depots, view location-wise stock reports and use receivables ageing to follow retailer credit. Sales and purchases post to the ledger once auto-posting is on.
Skyline Nexus ERP suits a Kohima hotel that needs a restaurant POS, stock per outlet, purchases posted to the ledger and cost centres for rooms, food and events. Billing needs an internet connection, because Skyline Nexus ERP does not work offline.
No, not yet. Nagaland suppliers above INR 5 crore must obtain an IRN for B2B invoices, and Skyline Nexus ERP has no IRP connection today. GSTR returns and e-way bills are not available yet either, so those stay with the accountant or the GST portal.
A billing app usually stops at the bill and the stock count, leaving a Nagaland shop's accountant to build the ledger later from exports. Skyline Nexus ERP writes each final sale straight into a balanced journal once an administrator enables auto-posting, so profit and the balance sheet can be checked any day. Some billing apps offer GST return tools that Skyline Nexus does not have yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP runs in English, the working language of most Nagaland offices, and a Hindi interface translation is available. Accounts are kept in INR, dates show as dd-mm-yyyy and invoice totals print in words in lakh and crore, which customers across the State recognise.
Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Nagaland; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
