Vienna at a glance
Vienna had just over 2 million inhabitants at the start of 2026, according to Statistik Wien, and the Wirtschaftskammer Wien counted around 153,000 member businesses in 2025. Ministries and federal agencies fill the Innere Stadt, international organisations work from the Donaucity, new office towers have risen around the Hauptbahnhof, and the Simmering industrial area houses workshops, logistics and building contractors.
Companies are entered in the Firmenbuch or register a trade with the city, often through the Unternehmensserviceportal, and file their taxes through FinanzOnline. Their recurring burden is documentation: tender files, invoice details, retention periods and the separate rules for cash sales. Skyline Nexus ERP keeps contracts, invoices and journals together, so a Vienna business can produce the paper trail an auditor or a public client expects.
Vienna's federal ministries, city departments and international organisations buy cleaning, IT, catering, translation, construction and consulting services, usually under framework contracts with fixed rates and reporting duties. Skyline Nexus ERP runs each contract as a project with milestones, a budget and the contract terms, and every purchase and invoice is tagged to it, so the margin on a public contract is visible throughout its term.
Federal bodies in Austria require e-invoices through e-Rechnung.gv.at, in ebInterface or Peppol UBL. Skyline Nexus can generate Peppol BIS files, but it does not yet deliver to that portal and cannot send over Peppol, so a Vienna supplier to federal bodies needs a separate route for now. Austrian connectors are being rolled out market by market; tell us your volume and we will confirm timing.
Congresses at the Messe Wien Exhibition and Congress Center and the hotels of the inner districts support a large network of organisers, caterers, event technicians and suppliers. A congress organiser in Skyline Nexus ERP runs each event as a project with a budget and contract, books venue, catering and technology costs against it, and invoices sponsors and delegates' employers from the same system.
Caterers and hotel kitchens hold stock per kitchen or outlet, valued by FIFO, with expiry reports that show what must be used first, while the CMMS records repairs in rooms and function spaces. Cash and card sales are a separate matter: above the legal thresholds Austria requires an RKSV cash register, which Skyline Nexus does not provide, so the till stays separate and its totals are posted.
Many banks, insurers and industrial groups run their Central and Eastern European business from Vienna, and around them work regional holdings, service companies and advisers. Skyline Nexus ERP keeps each company as its own business with its own ledger, and the Consolidation screens snapshot each member's trial balance, translate it into the group currency and eliminate intercompany balances for the group statements.
Ownership percentages and the consolidation method, from full to equity, are set per member, and consolidation periods can be approved and locked once reviewed. The Vienna holding's own books use the same controls as any other company in Skyline Nexus: journal approvals, period locks and an audit trail. Local tax filings of subsidiaries in other countries stay with their local advisers.
Compliance
Austria: invoices must meet § 11 UStG (simplified invoices up to EUR 400; customer UID above EUR 10,000). Nexus covers standard invoices and the optional payment QR, but not RKSV cash-register signing or Austrian e-invoicing (ebInterface).
Invoice content per § 11 UStG: seller and customer name/address, quantity and description, date of supply, net amount, VAT rate and VAT amount, issue date, sequential number, your UID number (ATU + 8 digits).
Invoices up to EUR 400 gross (Kleinbetragsrechnung) need less: seller, items, date of supply, gross amount and VAT rate.
Above EUR 10,000 gross, B2B invoices must also show the customer's UID number.
Kleinunternehmer (turnover up to EUR 55,000, since 2025): show no VAT and add the exemption note.
Reverse charge and intra-EU supplies: no VAT, the customer's UID and the legal note on the invoice; issue by the 15th of the following month.
E-invoices to federal bodies go through e-Rechnung.gv.at (ebInterface or Peppol UBL) – Nexus does not send them yet. No B2B e-invoicing mandate.
Cash and card sales above EUR 15,000 turnover / EUR 7,500 cash need an RKSV Registrierkasse with a signed QR on every receipt – Nexus POS does not provide this; use an RKSV-compliant cash register.
Keep invoices and records for 7 years (§ 132 BAO). The payment QR code (Zahlen mit Code) is optional.

As of October 2026, an invoice from Vienna must meet § 11 UStG: names and addresses, description and quantity, date of supply, net amount, VAT rate and amount, issue date, a sequential number and your UID number. The usual rates are 20%, 13% and 10%. Invoices up to EUR 400 gross may be simplified, and above EUR 10,000 gross a B2B invoice must also show the customer's UID.
Kleinunternehmer with turnover up to EUR 55,000 show no VAT and add the exemption note. Records are kept for 7 years under § 132 BAO, and for 22 years where they concern real property. B2B e-invoicing is voluntary and needs the recipient's consent, so PDF and paper invoices remain valid. Skyline Nexus ERP can print an optional payment QR code but does not provide RKSV signing.
A Vienna company moving to Skyline Nexus ERP imports its chart of accounts, customers and suppliers with open balances, and products with opening stock from spreadsheet templates. GL opening balances are entered on one screen that only saves when debits equal credits. Public-sector contractors then set up their running framework contracts as projects with the remaining budget.
The free trial lets a Vienna team test a contract project, an event budget or a consolidation with real data. Support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail in English, and Skyline Nexus ERP has no office in Vienna. Holdings with subsidiaries in several countries, and suppliers that invoice federal bodies, should book a demo so the set-up and the e-invoicing route are clear first.
Yes. Skyline Nexus ERP lets a Vienna supplier run each framework contract as a project with milestones, a budget and its terms, and tag every purchase and invoice to it. The project and cost-centre reports show the margin on the contract during its term, and the audit trail records who changed what if the client asks.
Not yet. Austrian federal bodies accept e-invoices through e-Rechnung.gv.at in ebInterface or Peppol UBL. Skyline Nexus ERP can generate Peppol BIS files but does not deliver to e-Rechnung.gv.at and cannot send over Peppol, so a supplier in Vienna needs another route for federal invoices until the Austrian roll-out arrives.
Yes, once it passes the thresholds of EUR 15,000 turnover and EUR 7,500 in cash sales, a Vienna café or hotel needs an RKSV cash register with a signed QR code on every receipt. Skyline Nexus ERP does not provide RKSV signing, so the register stays separate and its daily totals are posted into the Skyline Nexus ledger.
As of October 2026, an invoice from a Vienna company follows § 11 UStG: both parties' names and addresses, description, quantity, supply date, net amount, VAT rate and amount, issue date, sequential number and the seller's UID. Invoices up to EUR 400 may be simplified. Skyline Nexus ERP numbers invoices sequentially per scheme and stores UID numbers on contacts.
Skyline Nexus ERP can consolidate companies that each run as a business on the platform: a Vienna holding defines the group, ownership percentages and method, and each member's trial balance is translated into the group currency with intercompany balances eliminated. The subsidiaries' local tax and e-invoicing duties in their own countries are handled separately.
Skyline Nexus ERP is available in English and Arabic, with interface translations for many other languages, including German, Polish, Romanian and Russian; untranslated screens fall back to English. A Vienna company keeps its ledger in euros and can invoice customers in other currencies at an exchange rate entered on each document.
A Vienna company imports its chart of accounts, contacts with UID numbers and open balances, and products with opening stock into Skyline Nexus ERP from CSV or XLSX templates, then enters balanced GL opening balances. Most switch at a year or quarter end, keeping the old system available for the 7-year retention period.
Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Vienna; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
