Doing business in Jeddah

Jeddah, with about 3.7 million people (GASTAT 2022 census), is the Kingdom's Red Sea trading city. Containers arrive through Jeddah Islamic Port, retail and restaurant chains line Tahlia Street and Al Hamra, and the Industrial City phases house the plants and warehouses that supply the western region. Many firms are second-generation family traders who now run several branches and a warehouse or two.

Companies register through the Saudi Business Center, join the Jeddah Chamber and file VAT with ZATCA, while shop licences come from Jeddah Municipality. The daily grind is reconciling what left the port with what reached each shop and what was sold, invoiced and paid. Skyline Nexus ERP keeps stock per location, moves it with tracked transfers and records each sale against the branch that made it.

Modules Jeddah businesses start with

Importers, forwarders and port-side distributors

Around Jeddah Islamic Port the typical business is an importer or distributor: goods land in containers, clear customs, sit in a bonded or industrial-area warehouse and are then split across branches and wholesale customers. Expiry dates and partial shipments decide whether a line is profitable, and the sales team needs to know what is physically available today, not what a spreadsheet said last week.

Skyline Nexus ERP holds stock per warehouse and branch, with transfers that move from pending to in transit to completed, and reports such as Stock Valuation, Stock Aging and Stock Expiry. Business locations can be flagged as free-zone or bonded. FIFO costing, the IFRS-compatible choice, drives cost of goods, and the Logistics and Customs Clearance modules sit beside purchasing for traders who handle their own clearance.

Retail and restaurant chains on Tahlia and the Corniche

Jeddah's shopping streets and malls, from Tahlia Street to Red Sea Mall and Mall of Arabia, are full of chains with several outlets each. Every outlet runs its own till, cash drawer and stock, yet the owner wants one price list, one promotion calendar and a single view of which branch is losing money. Evening and weekend peaks leave little time for paperwork at closing.

Skyline Nexus ERP gives every Jeddah branch its own POS register, invoice numbering and Arabic simplified-invoice layout, with a default selling-price group per location. Each cash register has its own Register Report, kitchen features support restaurants, and sales post to the ledger with the branch stamped on each journal. Trial Balance and Profit and Loss can then be filtered by branch or viewed consolidated.

Hospitality on the Umrah route

As the main gateway for Umrah visitors arriving by air through King Abdulaziz International Airport and by sea, Jeddah supports hotels, serviced apartments, transport operators and caterers whose volumes swing with the season. A hotel group issues a flood of small consumer invoices in a busy month and a few large invoices to Umrah operators, and both streams must be right the first time.

In Skyline Nexus ERP simplified invoices from front desks, restaurants and outlets are reported to ZATCA within 24 hours, while standard invoices to Umrah companies go through clearance first. The CMMS module schedules preventive maintenance for rooms, lifts and kitchens before the peak, and the HCM module pays seasonal staff with GOSI contributions, with payroll posting to the ledger when auto-posting is on.

Compliance for a Jeddah business

Saudi VAT is 15%, and a Jeddah importer that sells to other companies issues tax invoices in Arabic, with any other language only as a translation. Sales to consumers, and sales under SAR 1,000, use the simplified tax invoice, and every invoice and note carries the ZATCA QR code. As of October 2026 the Wave 24 deadline of 30 June 2026 has passed, and Wave 25 businesses must connect to Fatoora by 1 February 2027.

Skyline Nexus ERP covers Phase 2 end to end: onboarding with compliance and production CSIDs, signed XML, clearance of B2B invoices before they reach the buyer and reporting of B2C invoices within 24 hours. Once filed, an invoice cannot be edited; corrections are credit or debit notes that state the reason. The law asks Jeddah firms to keep records for at least 6 years, in Arabic, stored in or accessible from Saudi Arabia.

Getting started from Jeddah

Most Jeddah traders start by importing their product master and selling prices, then opening stock per warehouse, then customer and supplier lists with balances owed. Skyline Nexus ERP provides a spreadsheet template for each, previews sales and purchase imports before saving them, and lets you revert an import batch if a column was mapped wrongly.

The free trial is the place to rehearse a container's journey: purchase, transfer, branch sale and payment, checked on the trial balance. Support comes by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail in English, and there is no local office. Distributors with many warehouses, hotel groups and chains onboarding several branches to ZATCA at once should book a demo before importing anything.

  1. Map each Jeddah warehouse and branch as a business location, marking bonded or free-zone sites.
  2. Import products and opening stock per location from the templates.
  3. Choose FIFO as the stock accounting method before the first purchase is entered.
  4. Complete ZATCA onboarding, then test one cleared invoice and one reported simplified invoice.

Questions from Jeddah businesses

Can Skyline Nexus ERP track stock between port warehouses and Jeddah branches?

Yes. Skyline Nexus ERP holds stock per location and moves it with stock transfers that carry a status of pending, in transit or completed, plus a carrier and shipping charges. A Jeddah distributor can see each warehouse and shop in the Location Wise Stock Report. Transfers move quantities between locations; they do not post a journal of their own in the general ledger.

Does Skyline Nexus ERP work for a restaurant chain on Tahlia Street?

Skyline Nexus ERP includes POS with restaurant and kitchen features, a cash register per outlet and an invoice scheme per branch, so a restaurant chain on Tahlia Street can run each outlet separately and report them together. Simplified invoices carry the ZATCA QR code and are reported within 24 hours, and outlet sales post to the ledger by location.

How fast must a Jeddah hotel report simplified invoices under ZATCA Phase 2?

A Jeddah hotel in Phase 2 must report each simplified tax invoice to ZATCA within 24 hours of issuing it. Invoices to businesses such as Umrah operators are standard tax invoices and must be cleared before they are shared. Skyline Nexus ERP handles both flows from the same sales screens, and filed invoices are corrected only by credit or debit notes.

Which Jeddah businesses fall into ZATCA Wave 25?

ZATCA Wave 25 covers businesses whose VAT revenue exceeded SAR 187,500 in any of 2022, 2023, 2024 or 2025, and as of October 2026 their integration deadline is 1 February 2027. Jeddah businesses above SAR 375,000 were in Wave 24, whose date of 30 June 2026 has passed. Skyline Nexus ERP onboards either group through the same settings screen.

Can a Jeddah importer invoice in US dollars in Skyline Nexus ERP?

A Jeddah importer can choose an invoice currency and an exchange rate on a sale in Skyline Nexus ERP, and the invoice shows the foreign-currency amounts. The document is stored and posted in Saudi riyals, the base currency of the ledger, so VAT and reports stay in SAR. Exchange rates are entered by hand in the Exchange Rates Center.

Is there a free trial of Skyline Nexus ERP for a Jeddah distributor?

Yes. A Jeddah distributor can start a free trial of Skyline Nexus ERP, load real products and stock from the import templates, and run a full purchase, transfer, sale and payment cycle. Prices are shown on this page, and larger distributors can book a demo to plan locations and invoice schemes before going live.

Does Skyline Nexus ERP print Arabic invoices for Jeddah shops?

Skyline Nexus ERP prints tax and simplified invoices with Arabic details, and a second language can appear as a translation, which is what ZATCA requires of a Jeddah shop. Each business location chooses its own invoice layout for POS and for standard sales. The interface itself runs in Arabic or English, with account names shown in the language the user selects.
