Odisha at a glance
Odisha's business map follows its minerals and its coast. Iron ore and manganese come from Keonjhar and Sundargarh, chromite from the Sukinda valley, coal from Talcher and the Ib Valley; steel is made at Kalinganagar, Rourkela and Angul, aluminium at Angul and Jharsuguda; and Paradip, Dhamra and Gopalpur ship the output. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack hold head offices, distributors and services.
GST matters in Odisha are administered on the State side by the Commissionerate of Commercial Tax and GST, with registration on the national portal. Industrial land and estates come through the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation. A typical contractor or supplier here runs a head office in the twin cities and site offices near the mines or plants it serves.
Around the mines, firms supply transport, earthmoving, explosives handling, spares, fuel and labour camps under contracts that run for years. Each site carries its own store of spares and consumables, its own diesel bills and its own staff advances. Owners struggle to see whether a single contract is making money until the auditor closes the year.
Skyline Nexus ERP treats each site as a business location with its own stock, and projects with tasks, milestones and budgets follow each contract. Cost centres and budget-versus-actual reports show spending per site, while CMMS work orders and preventive schedules keep dumpers, loaders and generators maintained. Asset management records the equipment fleet for an Odisha contractor.
Fabricators, refractory suppliers, machining shops and packaging units cluster near the plants at Kalinganagar, Angul, Jharsuguda and Rourkela. They work against purchase orders, convert steel, alloys or bricks into finished parts, and wait on long payment cycles from large customers, which leaves working capital tied up in receivables and part-finished jobs.
Skyline Nexus ERP covers this with manufacturing work orders, bills of materials and routings, FIFO or LIFO costing so the cost of a fabricated job follows the material lots used, and supplier and customer ageing reports. Purchases and payments post to the ledger once auto-posting is switched on, giving an Odisha ancillary owner a current view of cash tied up in each customer.
Imagine an Odisha supplier of spares with a Cuttack warehouse and stores at Angul and Joda. Typical billing apps would print GST bills and count stock at each store, while the accounts are rebuilt by a consultant from spreadsheets. Credit-book apps note who owes what without stores or purchases. A separate accounting package keeps solid books, but each store's sales are keyed in again.
In Skyline Nexus ERP, after an administrator enables Auto-post Sales Transactions, each final sale posts a balanced journal to sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory once saved, so trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet are current and can be viewed per store or consolidated. Stock transfers between stores do not post to the ledger. Other providers are ahead today on GST return preparation, which Skyline Nexus lacks.
India tax integration
Odisha has GST State code 21: every GSTIN registered in Odisha starts with 21. Sales inside Odisha carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

Odisha GSTINs begin with State code 21. A supply inside Odisha carries CGST plus SGST at half the rate each, and a supply to Jharkhand, West Bengal or Andhra Pradesh carries IGST. Registration is due above INR 20 lakh aggregate turnover, while suppliers of goods only may use the INR 40 lakh threshold, except for ice cream, pan masala and tobacco.
Suppliers above INR 5 crore aggregate turnover must clear B2B invoices through the IRP, which Skyline Nexus ERP cannot do yet, and mineral or steel consignments need e-way bills that it does not create yet. In Skyline Nexus you set up tax groups, such as CGST 9% + SGST 9% and IGST 18%, choose the one for each sale, and print HSN from the category code.
India onboarding is through Join the waitlist on this page, Book a demo or Ask on WhatsApp. An Odisha firm with sites should list each head office, site store and plant as a branch, prepare products and opening stock per branch for CSV import, collect contacts with GSTIN and opening balances, and agree the chart of accounts with its auditor.
Skyline Nexus ERP is set with a financial year beginning in April, INR, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words using lakh and crore. Support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail. There is no office in India, so site teams are trained online, which suits stores far from Bhubaneswar or Cuttack.
Odisha's GST State code is 21, so every GSTIN registered in Odisha starts with 21. Supplies within Odisha carry CGST and SGST, and supplies to other States carry IGST. Skyline Nexus ERP lets you set up both tax groups and choose the right one on each document.
Suppliers of goods only in Odisha may use the INR 40 lakh registration threshold, except those supplying ice cream, pan masala or tobacco. Service providers and mixed suppliers register above INR 20 lakh. Skyline Nexus ERP stores the GSTIN of the business and of each contact.
Yes. Skyline Nexus ERP lets an Odisha mining contractor set up each contract as a project with tasks, milestones and budget, use cost centres for site spending, and compare budget with actuals. Each site can hold its own stock of spares and fuel as a separate location.
Skyline Nexus ERP provides work orders, bills of materials and routings, FIFO or LIFO costing and ageing reports. A fabrication or machining unit near Kalinganagar in Odisha can cost each job from the material lots used and follow customer dues. Customer-specific portals of large plants are not integrated.
Many billing apps print GST bills and count stock while the accounts are finished later. Skyline Nexus ERP posts each final sale to the ledger once auto-posting is switched on, so an Odisha business sees a current trial balance and balance sheet per branch. Billing apps may be ahead on e-way bills, which Skyline Nexus does not generate yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP runs in English and has a Hindi interface translation, among other languages. INR is available as the business currency, with dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore. Odisha teams can ask during the demo about Odia or other Indian languages.
An Odisha company joins the India waitlist on this page or books a demo, then imports products, opening stock, contacts and its chart of accounts from CSV into Skyline Nexus ERP. The financial year starts in April. Support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
