Bhubaneswar at a glance
Bhubaneswar is a planned capital with an old temple town at its heart. Retail and wholesale concentrate in Unit-1 Market, Market Building, Saheed Nagar and Bapuji Nagar; IT and start-up offices fill Infocity, Patia and Chandrasekharpur; AIIMS Bhubaneswar and private hospitals draw patients from across Odisha; and small industrial estates at Mancheswar, Rasulgarh and Chandaka run fabrication, food and printing units.
Shops and establishments deal with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation for trade licences, and GST is administered by the Odisha Commissionerate of Commercial Tax and GST after registration on the national portal. Many businesses serve both Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, so a second outlet across the Kathajodi river is a common first expansion.
Software and engineering service firms in Infocity and Patia bill clients by milestone or by month, buy hardware and licences, and pay vendors and freelancers. The founder wants to know which client project is profitable and how much cash is committed, without waiting for the chartered accountant's quarterly file.
Skyline Nexus ERP offers projects with tasks, milestones and budgets, CRM for leads, follow-ups and proposals, and expenses and supplier payments that post to the ledger once auto-posting is on. Cost centres separate teams or clients, and the profit and loss with previous-period comparison shows a Bhubaneswar firm how the quarter is going.
Electronics, garments and mobile shops in Saheed Nagar, pharmacies around the hospital belt and FMCG distributors serving the twin cities all handle many items, frequent supplier deliveries and a mix of cash and credit customers. Expiry, shrinkage and slow movers quietly erode margin when stock and books are kept apart.
Skyline Nexus ERP gives a Bhubaneswar retailer a POS with cash registers, stock per outlet, purchases against suppliers with GSTIN, and FIFO or LIFO costing. Location-wise stock reports show slow movers, and stock transfers move goods between the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack outlets. Pharmacy-specific drug schedules are not claimed, so check them in a demo.
Take a Saheed Nagar mobile and electronics store with a second shop in Cuttack. Typical billing apps print GST bills and count stock in each shop, while an accountant re-creates the ledger at year end. A khata app shows which customers owe instalments, but nothing about the handsets in stock. A separate accounting package keeps proper books, though the shop sales are re-entered there.
With Auto-post Sales Transactions enabled, Skyline Nexus ERP posts each final sale as a balanced journal to sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory right after it is saved, so the store's trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet are current and filterable per shop. Supplier bills and expenses post likewise. Other providers are ahead today on IRN e-invoicing, which Skyline Nexus does not support yet.
India tax integration
Odisha has GST State code 21: every GSTIN registered in Odisha starts with 21. Sales inside Odisha carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

A Bhubaneswar GSTIN starts with 21, the Odisha code. Selling to a customer in Cuttack or Puri means CGST plus SGST; shipping to Kolkata or Visakhapatnam means IGST at the full rate. Registration applies above INR 20 lakh turnover, and Odisha allows suppliers of goods only to use the INR 40 lakh threshold, except for ice cream, pan masala and tobacco.
Firms above INR 5 crore aggregate turnover must get an IRN for B2B invoices, which Skyline Nexus ERP does not do yet. You can create tax groups such as CGST 9% + SGST 9% or IGST 18%, pick the right group yourself, and print an HSN column from category codes. GSTR returns and e-way bills are not available yet.
Join the waitlist on this page, book a demo, or ask on WhatsApp to begin. A Bhubaneswar business should prepare its item list with opening stock per shop, customers and suppliers with GSTIN and opening balances, the chart of accounts, and any second outlet in Cuttack or elsewhere to be set up as a branch.
Skyline Nexus ERP runs on an April financial year, INR, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore. A Bhubaneswar business is registered in Odisha, so its GSTIN starts with State code 21. Sales within Odisha carry CGST and SGST, while sales to other States carry IGST. Skyline Nexus ERP keeps both tax groups so you can pick one on each invoice.
A Bhubaneswar shop that supplies goods only may use the INR 40 lakh GST threshold available in Odisha, unless it sells ice cream, pan masala or tobacco. A service business registers above INR 20 lakh. Skyline Nexus ERP stores the GSTIN once registration is done.
