Visakhapatnam at a glance
Visakhapatnam, or Vizag, earns its living from the sea and from heavy industry. Clearing agents, ship chandlers and transporters crowd the port area and Gajuwaka; pharma units line Parawada; export plants sit in the special economic zone at Duvvada; and fabrication shops at Autonagar and Atchutapuram serve the steel plant and refineries. In the city, Dwaraka Nagar, Jagadamba Junction and Poorna Market handle retail and wholesale.
Units inside the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone deal with its Development Commissioner under the Union commerce ministry, while plots in industrial parks come through the State industrial infrastructure corporation. Shops register for GST on the national portal. Hotels along RK Beach and Rushikonda add a hospitality trade that peaks in the winter holidays and on weekends.
A Vizag ship chandler gets a vessel's order at short notice, buys provisions and spares from local wholesalers, delivers on board within hours, and often waits weeks for the agent to pay. Clearing and forwarding firms juggle advances paid to the port, customs and transporters against invoices raised later. Cash moves fast while the paperwork lags.
Skyline Nexus ERP records each purchase against the supplier, each delivery as a sale to the agent, and each payment as it happens, all posting to the ledger when auto-posting is on. Receivable ageing shows which agents are overdue, and cost centres or projects can track profit per vessel call or per contract in Visakhapatnam.
The Parawada pharma cluster, export units at Duvvada and the steel-plant ancillaries at Autonagar all convert material into finished goods under strict cost pressure. Raw material prices move, and the owner needs to know the cost of each batch or fabricated job before quoting the next one.
Skyline Nexus ERP offers manufacturing work orders, bills of materials and routings, FIFO or LIFO costing, and a CMMS module for maintenance work orders and preventive schedules on plant equipment. Budgets against actuals per cost centre help a Visakhapatnam unit compare plan and outcome. SEZ-specific customs documents are not part of Skyline Nexus and stay with your customs broker.
A Visakhapatnam chandler using a typical billing app can print GST bills and keep a stock count, yet the books are usually rebuilt by an accountant from spreadsheets at month or year end. A credit-book app tracks what agents owe but not stores or purchases. A separate accounting package gives sound books, though delivery notes are re-entered into it by hand.
Once Auto-post Sales Transactions is turned on in Skyline Nexus ERP, every final sale posts a balanced journal to sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory right after saving. The trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet are therefore current, and can be split by branch, say the port office and a Gajuwaka store. Purchases and expenses post the same way.
India tax integration
Andhra Pradesh has GST State code 37: every GSTIN registered in Andhra Pradesh starts with 37. Sales inside Andhra Pradesh carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.

A Visakhapatnam GSTIN starts with 37, the Andhra Pradesh code. Selling to a buyer in Andhra Pradesh means CGST plus SGST; selling to Odisha or Telangana means IGST at the full rate. Registration starts above INR 20 lakh turnover, and suppliers of goods only may use the INR 40 lakh threshold unless they sell ice cream, pan masala or tobacco.
B2B suppliers above INR 5 crore aggregate turnover need an IRN from the IRP, which Skyline Nexus ERP does not generate yet. You can set tax groups such as CGST 9% + SGST 9% or IGST 18%, pick the group yourself, and print HSN from the category code. E-way bills and GSTR returns are not supported yet; check these with your tax adviser.
