Xero alternatives: the short answer
A Xero alternative fits if you need inventory, a point of sale and CRM in one system, or if Xero's regular price is more than one user needs. As of 10 October 2026 Xero's lists start at USD 27 per month in the US (Early), GBP 18 in the UK (Ignite) and CAD 25 in Canada (Starter). Skyline Nexus ERP Solo lists at USD 19 per month, regular price.
This page reads Xero's own US, UK and Canadian pricing pages as they stood on 10 October 2026 and keeps each list in its own currency. It sets out what Xero does that Skyline Nexus ERP does not, who should stay with Xero, and what one year costs at regular prices. Prices change; confirm them on Xero's page for your country before you decide.
Xero pricing in the United States as of 10 October 2026

Xero pricing in the UK and Canada as of 10 October 2026

The Canadian page states that prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude applicable taxes.
- UK Ignite: GBP 18 per month excl. VAT; quotes and 20 invoices, 10 bills, MTD for Income Tax ready, VAT returns submitted to HMRC, CIS, payroll at GBP 1.50 per person.

- Canada promotion, dated: 80% off for the first 3 months for new customers with an offer code, then the regular price.
Xero price increase 2026: what Xero's pages say today
People search for a Xero price increase when a promotion ends or when a list price moves. On 10 October 2026 none of the three Xero pricing pages we read, for the US, the UK and Canada, carried a notice of a coming price change. The US and Canadian pages say that Xero reserves the right to change pricing at any time. We therefore state no past or future increase; the prices on this page were checked on 10 October 2026.
The visible cliff is the promotion. In the US and Canada the first 3 months are 80% off, and in the UK the first 6 months are 90% off; after that the regular price applies. A UK business on Grow pays GBP 3.90 a month during the offer and GBP 39 afterwards. Budget with the regular price, since that is what you pay for most of the time you use the product.
What Xero does that Skyline Nexus ERP does not
Xero describes the following on its own pricing pages on 10 October 2026. Skyline Nexus ERP does not offer them today, and you should weigh them before you switch.
- Bank feeds: Xero's UK page says direct bank feeds are available at no additional cost for most customers. Skyline Nexus ERP has no bank feeds; you import a statement file and reconcile from it, while bank feeds are rolled out market by market.
- MTD filing: Xero's UK plans submit VAT returns to HMRC, and Xero describes itself as HMRC-recognised. Skyline Nexus ERP prepares the VAT figures; you submit them through MTD bridging software or your accountant's MTD software while direct MTD filing is rolled out.
- Payroll: Xero includes or sells payroll in the UK and, through Gusto, in the US. Skyline Nexus ERP's payroll is built for Saudi Arabia; UK, Irish, Canadian and US payroll are rolled out country by country.
- Apps: Xero's pages say it integrates with more than 1,000 apps and point to the Xero App Store. Skyline Nexus ERP has no comparable marketplace and no working general-ledger API.
- Users: Xero's UK page says it has no per-user licence fees. Skyline Nexus ERP Solo is one user and one location; Core covers 5 users.
- Document capture and forecasting: Xero lists smart document capture and 30 to 180-day cash flow forecasts. Skyline Nexus ERP has no automatic receipt capture.
Who should not switch from Xero
A switch costs time even when the subscription is lower. In these situations staying with Xero is the sound choice.
- Your bookkeeping runs on bank feeds that bring in every transaction daily.
- You file VAT under Making Tax Digital in the UK and want to submit directly from your accounting software, without bridging software.
- Your accountant or bookkeeper works inside your Xero file, or prices their service on a Xero workflow.
- You rely on apps from the Xero App Store, such as payments, receipt capture or e-commerce connectors, that would have to be replaced.
- You run payroll in Xero in the UK, or through Gusto in the US, and want it in the same system.
- You sell services only and have no stock: Xero Canada Starter at CAD 25 matches Solo's CAD 25, and a free tool may cost less than either.
Xero vs QuickBooks and Xero vs Zoho Books: a neutral look
Xero vs QuickBooks: we read both Canadian lists on 10 October 2026, which keeps the comparison in one currency. Xero Canada lists Starter at CAD 25, Standard at CAD 60 and Premium at CAD 80 per month; QuickBooks Online Canada lists Lite at CAD 20, EasyStart at CAD 30 for 1 user and Plus at CAD 110 for 5 users with inventory and multi-currency, according to Intuit's pricing page and offer feed. Both sell entry plans for one person; QuickBooks Plus is the plan that names inventory.
Xero vs Zoho Books: on 10 October 2026 Zoho Books' US page listed a Free plan for 1 user plus 1 accountant while revenue does not exceed USD 50,000; Standard at USD 20 per month, or USD 15 billed annually, for 3 users with bank feeds; and Professional at USD 50, or USD 40 billed annually, for 5 users with inventory and multi-currency, exclusive of local taxes. Against Xero's US list of USD 27, 59 and 97, the choice turns on users, invoice volume and whether you need stock in the plan. Neither comparison is a ranking; read each vendor's page for the features you rely on.
Free Xero alternatives and Xero alternatives in the UK
Free Xero alternatives exist as a category: free tiers of paid products, invoice-only plans and open-source packages. They suit a sole trader with low volume and no stock. One with published terms is Zoho Books Free in the US, at USD 0 for 1 user and 1 accountant under a USD 50,000 revenue threshold. Check the cap, the tax support for your country and the data export before you commit, and expect to move when you outgrow it.
Xero alternatives in the UK start from one question: who files your VAT under Making Tax Digital? If you want the software itself to submit, choose a product that does, as Xero's plans do. Skyline Nexus ERP Solo costs GBP 15 per month excl. VAT and adds inventory, a point of sale and CRM, but you submit VAT through bridging software or your accountant's MTD software, which adds a cost we have not priced here. For a VAT-registered business with stock, compare Solo plus bridging against Xero Ignite or Grow plus whatever you use for stock today.
Annual cost at regular prices: Xero and Skyline Nexus ERP Solo
Twelve paid months on monthly billing, regular price against regular price, before tax, prices as of 10 October 2026. Scope differs: Xero's plans include bank feeds or bank reconciliation, the UK plans submit VAT to HMRC, and Xero's US page lists inventory only as an optional add-on; Skyline Nexus ERP Solo includes inventory, a point of sale, purchasing and CRM for one user and one location, with statement import instead of bank feeds.
- US: Xero Early 12 x USD 27 = USD 324, Growing 12 x USD 59 = USD 708, Established 12 x USD 97 = USD 1,164. Skyline Nexus ERP Solo 12 x USD 19 = USD 228, which is USD 96 less than Early and USD 480 less than Growing.
- UK: Xero Ignite 12 x GBP 18 = GBP 216, Grow 12 x GBP 39 = GBP 468. Solo 12 x GBP 15 = GBP 180, GBP 36 less than Ignite before you add MTD bridging software, which can close that gap.
- Canada: Xero Starter 12 x CAD 25 = CAD 300, the same as Solo's 12 x CAD 25 = CAD 300; Standard 12 x CAD 60 = CAD 720, which is CAD 420 more than Solo.
- Ireland: Skyline Nexus ERP Solo is EUR 17 per month, EUR 204 for 12 months; we did not read Xero's Irish list for this page.
- Solo on annual billing: 10 x the monthly price for 12 months, so USD 190, GBP 150, EUR 170 or CAD 250.
- Promotions, stated separately and not set against list prices: Xero's 80% or 90% introductory discounts above; the Skyline Nexus ERP launch offer, until 31 January 2027, gives 50% off the first 3 paid months on monthly billing, or 15 months for the annual price.
Skyline Nexus ERP Solo as a Xero alternative
Skyline Nexus ERP Solo is the plan for one user and one business location, with the same modules as Core: inventory per location with FIFO costing and stock reports; a point of sale with cash registers; CRM with leads, follow-ups and campaigns; purchasing; invoicing with credit and debit notes; and a double-entry general ledger that posts sales, purchases, payments and depreciation automatically once the auto-post switches are on. Tax rates and tax groups cover sales tax, VAT, GST and combined rates, and the VAT reports give the figures for each return. Bank reconciliation works from statement files you import, CSV, TXT, XLSX or XLS, matched against the statement ending balance.
Regular prices: USD 19, GBP 15, EUR 17 in Ireland or CAD 25 per month before tax, or 10 times that for 12 months on annual billing. Upgrade to Core for 5 users at any time; unused time is credited. Start with the free first month: 30 days, every module, your own data, no card. Until 31 January 2027 the launch offer gives 50% off the first 3 paid months on monthly billing, or 15 months for the annual price.

Is Xero increasing its prices in 2026?
Xero's US, UK and Canadian pricing pages carried no notice of a coming price change on 10 October 2026, and the US and Canadian pages say Xero reserves the right to change pricing at any time. We therefore state no increase; the prices on this page were checked on 10 October 2026. The change you will notice first is the end of the introductory discount, after which Xero's regular price applies. Re-check Xero's page on the day you subscribe.
Xero vs QuickBooks: which costs less?
Xero vs QuickBooks depends on the plan you need. On the Canadian lists read on 10 October 2026, Xero Starter cost CAD 25 and QuickBooks Online EasyStart CAD 30 per month for one person, while QuickBooks Plus, which names inventory and includes 5 users, cost CAD 110 against Xero Premium at CAD 80. Compare the plan that covers your invoice volume, users and stock, at regular prices, and confirm both on the vendors' pages.
What is the difference between Xero and Zoho Books?
On their US pages on 10 October 2026, Xero listed Early at USD 27, Growing at USD 59 and Established at USD 97 per month, with inventory as an optional add-on. Zoho Books listed a Free plan under a USD 50,000 revenue threshold, Standard at USD 20 for 3 users with bank feeds, and Professional at USD 50 for 5 users with inventory and multi-currency, cheaper again on annual billing. Xero lists more than 1,000 app integrations. Choose by users, stock and the apps you depend on.
Is there a free alternative to Xero?
Yes, free alternatives to Xero exist as a category: free tiers of paid products, invoice-only plans and open-source software. Zoho Books Free, for example, was USD 0 for 1 user and 1 accountant under a USD 50,000 revenue threshold on 10 October 2026. Free tools suit a sole trader with low volume and no stock. Check the revenue or invoice cap, tax support for your country and how you export your data before you rely on one.
What is the cheapest alternative to Xero?
No single product is cheapest for everyone; it depends on users, invoice volume, stock and tax filing. Free tiers cost nothing for small volumes. For one user who needs inventory, a point of sale and a double-entry ledger, Skyline Nexus ERP Solo lists at USD 19, GBP 15 or CAD 25 per month at its regular price. In the UK, add the cost of MTD bridging software, because Solo does not submit VAT returns to HMRC itself.
Does Skyline Nexus ERP have bank feeds and MTD filing like Xero?
No. Skyline Nexus ERP reconciles bank accounts from statement files you import in CSV, TXT, XLSX or XLS format, rather than from live bank feeds, and bank feeds are being rolled out market by market. For UK VAT, Skyline Nexus ERP prepares the return figures and you submit them through MTD bridging software or your accountant's MTD software while direct MTD filing is rolled out. If either matters daily, Xero fits better.
