Karnataka at a glance
Karnataka's economy runs along corridors. Bengaluru carries software and start-ups, the Bengaluru-Mysuru corridor links engineering suppliers and tourism, Hubballi-Dharwad and Belagavi trade farm produce and foundry goods, and the coast around Mangaluru lives on the port, cashew and fisheries. Coffee comes from Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru, silk from Ramanagara and Mysuru.
For a firm that grows beyond one town, that geography means branches in several districts under one GSTIN, because the whole state shares one registration and one State code. Investment promotion is handled by Invest Karnataka, crafts retail by the State handicrafts corporation, and day-to-day registration by the State GST administration and the municipal trade licence of each town where a branch opens.
The KIADB estates at Peenya and Bommasandra near Bengaluru, Hebbal and Nanjangud near Mysuru and Baikampady near Mangaluru hold machine shops, auto-component suppliers, garment units and food processors. Many run a small plant plus a sales office in another city, pricing jobs from bills of material that change with each drawing.
Skyline Nexus ERP covers that with its manufacturing module: work orders, bills of material and routings, with raw material and finished goods held per location. Costing follows FIFO or LIFO, and the consumed lot cost becomes cost of goods in the ledger. Cost centres and budget-versus-actual reports let a Karnataka owner compare the Peenya plant with the Hubballi depot, and projects with milestones and budgets suit tool-room jobs.
Karnataka's software and electronics firms, from Electronic City and Whitefield to the IT parks of Mysuru and Mangaluru, sell services more than goods. Their pain is the books: project billing, client receivables, vendor payments and a balance sheet investors ask for. Retail chains selling silk sarees, electronics or groceries across several Karnataka towns need counters and stock instead.
Skyline Nexus ERP serves both. Projects with tasks, milestones and budgets, CRM leads, follow-ups and proposals, and AR and AP ageing support a services firm. A retailer gets multi-branch POS with cash registers, its own invoice numbering and layout per branch, stock per location and transfers between stores. Users can be limited to the branches they work in, so a Belagavi cashier sees only Belagavi.
Picture a saree retailer with showrooms in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Hubballi. Typical billing apps print GST bills and keep stock counts, but the books often live elsewhere, so the trial balance is rebuilt at month or year end. Credit-book apps record who owes what, not stock or purchases. A separate accounting package keeps strong books, yet showroom sales are exported or re-keyed.
Once Auto-post Sales Transactions is switched on, Skyline Nexus ERP posts every final POS sale as a balanced journal for sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory, right after the bill is saved. The trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet stay current and can be filtered per Karnataka showroom. Other providers are ahead today on GST return preparation, which Skyline Nexus does not offer yet.
India tax integration
Karnataka has GST State code 29: every GSTIN registered in Karnataka starts with 29. Sales inside Karnataka carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

Every GSTIN registered in Karnataka begins with 29. A sale inside Karnataka, say from Mangaluru to Shivamogga, carries CGST plus SGST at half the rate each, while a sale to Goa or Kerala carries IGST. Registration is required above INR 20 lakh aggregate turnover; a supplier of goods only may use the INR 40 lakh threshold, except for ice cream, pan masala and tobacco.
Suppliers above INR 5 crore must obtain an IRN for B2B invoices, which Skyline Nexus ERP cannot do yet. In Skyline Nexus you set up tax groups such as CGST 9% + SGST 9% or IGST 18%, choose the intra-State or inter-State group yourself, since place of supply is not switched for you, and print an HSN column from the category code. E-way bills and GSTR returns are not available yet.
India onboarding is through the waitlist form on this page, a demo and WhatsApp: use Join the waitlist, Book a demo or Ask on WhatsApp. A multi-city Karnataka business should list every branch and godown it wants as a location, its product list with opening stock per location, customers and suppliers with GSTIN and opening balances, and its chart of accounts.
For the set-up itself, the Karnataka head office picks April as the first month of the financial year, INR as the base currency and a dd-mm-yyyy date style, and turns on invoice totals in words in lakh and crore. Opening stock and contacts are uploaded as CSV files. Help comes over WhatsApp, phone and e-mail, as Skyline keeps no office in India.
A GSTIN registered in Karnataka starts with 29, the State code. Skyline Nexus ERP stores the tax number on each customer and supplier, so a Karnataka firm can see whether a buyer is inside the State and should get CGST plus SGST, or outside and should get IGST.
Yes, with one limit. Skyline Nexus ERP lets a Karnataka trader keep an IGST 18% tax group next to a CGST 9% + SGST 9% group and pick the right one per invoice. The software does not yet switch groups automatically from the place of supply, so the person billing chooses, and IRN e-invoicing is not live either.
Skyline Nexus ERP includes manufacturing with work orders, bills of material and routings, plus stock per location and FIFO or LIFO costing. A unit in Peenya, Nanjangud or Baikampady runs production, purchases and sales in the same system as its books. Indian payroll is not part of the product, so wages are handled separately.
Skyline Nexus ERP offers projects with tasks, milestones and budgets, CRM for leads and proposals, and receivable ageing for client invoices. A Karnataka services firm can bill clients, track vendor payments and read its profit and loss and balance sheet at any time, filtered by office.
Many billing apps print GST bills and count stock while the books are kept elsewhere. Skyline Nexus ERP, once auto-posting is on, posts each final sale to sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory, so a Karnataka shop has a current trial balance and balance sheet. Billing apps are ahead today on GST returns and e-way bills, which Skyline Nexus does not provide yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP runs in English and has a Hindi interface translation; a Kannada interface is not claimed here, so a Karnataka team should ask about it in the demo. Amounts are kept in INR, dates can be shown as dd-mm-yyyy, and invoice totals can be written in words in the Indian system of lakh and crore.
Skyline Nexus ERP is opened to Indian businesses through a waitlist and a demo. A Karnataka business joins the waitlist on this page or books a demo, then prepares products and opening stock, contacts with GSTIN and balances, a chart of accounts and its branches. Data comes in by CSV import, and support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Karnataka; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
