Dehradun at a glance
Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, is a town of institutions and the shops that serve them. Boarding schools, colleges and coaching centres sit alongside national bodies such as the Wildlife Institute of India, CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum and the Survey of India. Trade gathers around the Clock Tower and Paltan Bazaar, cafes spread along Rajpur Road, and the Selaqui industrial area lies to the west.
A Dehradun firm registers for GST through the GST portal with the Uttarakhand State tax administration, deals with Nagar Nigam Dehradun on trade licences and property tax, and with the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority on building maps. Many owners keep separate notebooks for school orders, shop sales and credit, then hand everything to an accountant at year end.
Uniform makers, stationers, book distributors and caterers in Dehradun live on the academic calendar. Orders peak before term begins, when a supplier may deliver blazers, books and sports kit to several boarding schools on credit, then wait weeks for payment, while hostel canteens buy provisions every day.
Skyline Nexus ERP handles this with invoices per school, receivable ageing that shows which institution is overdue, and stock per godown or shop. The CRM records school contacts, follow-ups and proposals for next term, and projects with tasks, milestones and budgets suit a contractor fitting out a new hostel block or laboratory in Dehradun.
Paltan Bazaar runs from the Clock Tower with garment, shoe, woollens and electronics shops, while Rajpur Road holds bakeries, bookshops, cafes and brand outlets. Students, residents and tourists heading to Mussoorie all pass through, so a Dehradun retailer with two outlets sees very different baskets and busy hours in each.
Skyline Nexus ERP gives each outlet its own business location, invoice series, payment methods and stock, with transfers between them. Cafes can use the restaurant POS with kitchen features, and a bakery can sell loose items through weighing-scale integration. FIFO or LIFO costing sets the cost of goods sold, and staff can be limited to their own counter.
Consider a Dehradun uniform and stationery supplier with a shop near Paltan Bazaar. A typical billing-only app would print the GST bill for each school delivery and track stock, while the ledger stays with the accountant to be rebuilt later. A credit-book app would remember which school owes what, but not the cloth, buttons and books bought.
A separate accounting package gives tidy books, fed by bills typed in again. Skyline Nexus ERP works from one record: once Auto-post Sales Transactions is on, each final sale posts a balanced journal for sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory, and purchases and payments do the same, keeping the trial balance and balance sheet current. GST return tools are where other providers lead today.
India tax integration
Uttarakhand has GST State code 05: every GSTIN registered in Uttarakhand starts with 05. Sales inside Uttarakhand carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

A Dehradun GSTIN begins with 05, the Uttarakhand State code. Selling to a school in Mussoorie means CGST plus SGST at half the rate each, while dispatching to a buyer in Saharanpur, across the border in Uttar Pradesh, means IGST at the full rate. Registration is due above INR 20 lakh, and Uttarakhand does not use the INR 40 lakh goods-only threshold.
In Skyline Nexus ERP you build tax groups such as CGST 9% + SGST 9% or IGST 18% and choose which applies to each sale, since there is no automatic place-of-supply switch; HSN prints from category codes. A Selaqui supplier above INR 5 crore needs an IRN for B2B invoices, which Skyline Nexus ERP cannot generate yet, and GSTR returns are not prepared either.
Dehradun businesses join through the India waitlist form on this page or a demo; the buttons say Join the waitlist, Book a demo and Ask on WhatsApp. Skyline Nexus ERP has no office in India, and support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail. Many school suppliers prefer to switch in the quieter weeks after term starts.
Gather your item list with opening stock in CSV, schools, customers and suppliers with GSTIN and opening balances, a chart of accounts and your outlets as branches. Settings follow an April financial year, INR currency, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore.
A Dehradun business has a GSTIN that starts with 05, the State code of Uttarakhand. Skyline Nexus ERP stores the GSTIN of the business and of each contact, so registration numbers appear on documents and in customer and supplier records.
In Dehradun the registration threshold is INR 20 lakh aggregate turnover, because Uttarakhand does not apply the INR 40 lakh threshold for goods-only suppliers. Some suppliers must register regardless of turnover. Skyline Nexus ERP records the turnover, while registration is done on the GST portal.
Skyline Nexus ERP lets a Dehradun uniform supplier invoice each school, track who is overdue in receivable ageing, keep stock per godown and follow up next term's orders in the CRM. Every final invoice posts to the books once auto-posting is switched on.
Skyline Nexus ERP includes a restaurant POS with kitchen features, cash registers and weighing-scale integration for loose bakery items. A Rajpur Road cafe in Dehradun can run a second outlet as its own location and compare both in a branch-filtered P&L.
Many billing apps print bills and keep stock, while the accounts are rebuilt elsewhere. Skyline Nexus ERP posts each final sale, purchase and payment to a double-entry ledger once auto-posting is on, so a Dehradun shop sees a current trial balance. Some billing apps are ahead on GST return preparation, which Skyline Nexus does not offer yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP has an English interface and a Hindi interface translation is available, so shop and store staff in Dehradun can choose. The currency is INR, totals can be printed in words in lakh and crore, and dates use dd-mm-yyyy.
A Dehradun business should bring an item list with opening stock, contacts with GSTIN and balances, and its chart of accounts. Skyline Nexus ERP imports these from CSV, and the demo can then show your own products, schools and suppliers.
Skyline Nexus ERP is a cloud service run by Skyline Industrial Solution. We have no office in Dehradun; support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail.
