Indore at a glance
The district administration describes Indore as the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh, and the old city proves it. Around Rajwada, wholesale lanes in Siyaganj, Malharganj and the cloth markets supply retailers across Malwa, while Sarafa turns into a food street after dark. Further out, the Sanwer Road and Polo Ground industrial areas, Pithampur and the IT parks along the Super Corridor carry the newer economy.
An Indore business registers for GST with the Commercial Tax Department of Madhya Pradesh, deals with Indore Municipal Corporation on trade licences and property tax, and with the Indore Development Authority on schemes and plots. Owners often run a busy counter, a godown book and a credit ledger that only the accountant fully reconciles.
Siyaganj deals in grocery, dry fruit and spices, Malharganj and the Rajwada cloth markets in textiles, and both send goods to kirana and garment shops in Dewas, Ujjain, Dhar and beyond. An Indore wholesaler sells mostly on credit to hundreds of small retailers, buys from mills in several States and keeps stock in narrow godowns behind the shop.
Skyline Nexus ERP records each sale and receipt against the retailer, so receivable ageing shows who is overdue by how long. Purchases and supplier payments post to the books, stock is held per godown with transfers between them, and the Day Book lets the owner review every posting of a hectic market day.
Indore's namkeen and sweet trade spans small family kitchens and brands with many retail outlets. A maker buys gram flour, oil, spices and packaging in bulk, fries batches every day in a unit on Sanwer Road, and supplies its own outlets, distributors and shops, with prices and margins that differ by channel.
Skyline Nexus ERP covers production with work orders and bills of materials, so each batch consumes flour, oil and packs and adds finished stock. Retail outlets use the POS with weighing-scale integration for loose sales, each outlet keeps its own invoice series, and a branch-filtered P&L shows whether the Chhappan Dukan outlet or the distributor channel earns more.
Take a Malharganj cloth wholesaler. A billing app at the counter would print GST invoices and track bales, but the accounts usually live with a chartered accountant and are rebuilt from those invoices. A khata app would note what each retailer owes, without purchases from the mill, stock or a double-entry ledger. A separate accounting package keeps sound books from data entered twice.
Skyline Nexus ERP keeps one record instead. When Auto-post Sales Transactions is enabled, every final POS sale posts a balanced journal for sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory; purchases, payments and expenses follow, so the Indore wholesaler's trial balance, P&L and balance sheet are current and can be split by shop or godown. Other providers are ahead today on GST returns.
India tax integration
Madhya Pradesh has GST State code 23: every GSTIN registered in Madhya Pradesh starts with 23. Sales inside Madhya Pradesh carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.

Indore GSTINs begin with 23, the Madhya Pradesh State code. A Siyaganj consignment to a retailer in Ujjain carries CGST and SGST at half the rate each, whereas one to Rajasthan or Maharashtra carries IGST at the full rate. Registration applies above INR 20 lakh turnover, or INR 40 lakh for goods-only suppliers outside ice cream, pan masala and tobacco.
Skyline Nexus ERP holds rates as tax groups, for example CGST 9% + SGST 9% or IGST 18%, and staff choose the group for each sale, with HSN printed from the category code. An Indore supplier above INR 5 crore must get an IRN for B2B invoices, which Skyline Nexus ERP does not do yet, and GSTR returns are not prepared in it.
Indore businesses join through the India waitlist on this page or a demo, using Join the waitlist, Book a demo or Ask on WhatsApp. Skyline Nexus ERP has no office in India, and support runs by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail. Wholesalers often move during a slower week after a festival season.
Collect your item list with opening stock per godown in CSV, retailers and suppliers with GSTIN and opening balances, a chart of accounts and each shop or unit as a branch. Use an April financial year, INR, dd-mm-yyyy dates and amounts in words in lakh and crore.
An Indore GSTIN starts with 23, the State code of Madhya Pradesh. Skyline Nexus ERP stores the GSTIN of the business and of each retailer or supplier, so the numbers print on documents and stay with contact records for the accountant.
A Siyaganj wholesaler in Indore supplying only goods may use the INR 40 lakh registration threshold, except for ice cream, pan masala and tobacco; mixed or service suppliers use INR 20 lakh. Skyline Nexus ERP keeps the turnover records, and registration itself is done on the GST portal.
Skyline Nexus ERP includes manufacturing work orders and bills of materials, so an Indore namkeen maker can consume flour, oil and packs per batch and add finished goods to stock. Outlets sell through the POS with weighing-scale integration, and every final sale posts to the books once auto-posting is on.
Skyline Nexus ERP records each credit sale and receipt per retailer, shows receivable ageing, and keeps stock per godown. An Indore cloth wholesaler can see overdue accounts and bale stock together, and imports existing contacts with their opening balances from CSV.
Many billing apps print the bill and count stock while the books are built later elsewhere. Skyline Nexus ERP posts each final sale, purchase and payment to a double-entry ledger once auto-posting is switched on, so an Indore shop sees a current trial balance. Some billing apps are ahead on GST return preparation, which Skyline Nexus does not offer yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP has an English interface and a Hindi interface translation is available, so Indore counter and godown staff can work comfortably. The business currency is INR, dates use dd-mm-yyyy and totals can be printed in words in lakh and crore.
Start from the waitlist form on this page, or press Book a demo if you would rather see the software in a live walkthrough first; WhatsApp works for quick questions. For an Indore wholesaler the useful preparation is a CSV of items with godown quantities and a list of retailers with balances, which Skyline Nexus ERP can import before the demo.
