Kanpur at a glance
The district administration calls Kanpur the industrial capital of Uttar Pradesh, and the map shows why. Tanneries line the river at Jajmau, engineering, plastics and chemical units fill the Panki and Dada Nagar industrial areas, and the wholesale lanes of Naya Ganj, Generalganj and Birhana Road move grain, kirana, cloth and gold to towns across the region.
Kanpur firms register for GST with the Commercial Taxes Department of Uttar Pradesh, deal with Kanpur Nagar Nigam for trade licences and property tax, and take industrial plots from UPSIDA. The usual pain is the gap between the factory floor, the godown register and the ledger that the accountant closes only when the year is over.
Leather products are the district's ODOP product, and a single Kanpur group may tan hides at Jajmau, cut and stitch saddlery or footwear in another unit, and ship finished goods to buyers in other States. Raw material, chemicals, semi-finished leather and cartons all sit in different stores, and costing a batch by hand is slow guesswork.
Skyline Nexus ERP covers this with manufacturing work orders, bills of materials and routings, purchases and goods receipts, and stock held per location. FIFO or LIFO costing feeds the cost of goods, cost centres separate the tannery from the finishing unit, and the CMMS module schedules maintenance on drums, presses and boilers through work orders.
Wholesale in Kanpur runs on volume and credit. A Generalganj kirana distributor buys by the truckload, sells to retailers in Unnao, Fatehpur and Kannauj on running accounts, and settles with suppliers on agreed days. The owner wants to know what stock is in which godown and who is overdue, without waiting for the munim to total the bahi.
Skyline Nexus ERP records purchases, sales and receipts against each contact, keeps receivable and payable ageing current, and shows location-wise stock for every godown. The General Ledger and Day Book let a Kanpur owner check any day's postings line by line. Opening balances come in by CSV.
A Birhana Road shop owner choosing software meets three kinds of tool. Billing apps produce a GST bill and a stock figure, but the accounts usually sit with a chartered accountant or in Excel and are pieced together later. Credit-book apps track udhaar balances neatly, yet they leave stock, purchases and double-entry out. Standalone accounting packages keep proper books from data typed in or exported from the till.
Skyline Nexus ERP joins those steps. After Auto-post Sales Transactions is enabled, a final POS sale books its own balanced journal across sales, output tax, cost of goods and inventory, and purchases, payments and expenses follow the same rule. The Kanpur owner then reads trial balance, P&L and balance sheet per branch at any time. Other providers are ahead today on GST returns, explained next.
India tax integration
Uttar Pradesh has GST State code 09: every GSTIN registered in Uttar Pradesh starts with 09. Sales inside Uttar Pradesh carry CGST + SGST; sales to another State carry IGST. A branch in another State needs its own GSTIN and the right place of supply on each invoice: in Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the intra-State or inter-State tax group on the sale.
GST rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18%, 40%; 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% for stones and jewellery) and older rates for past periods; a cess as an extra component of a tax group.
Tax groups combining CGST + SGST (or UTGST) into one rate, plus IGST rates, set per product and chosen per sale.
Prices entered tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive per product; the POS works out the tax either way.
Your GSTIN as the business tax number and the customer's GSTIN on the contact record, both printed on invoices.
An HSN column on invoices from the product category code, an editable invoice heading (for example "Tax Invoice" or "Bill of Supply") and a receipt design that prints each tax component in its own column.
Credit notes for sales returns, debit notes for sales and purchases, and purchase returns.
With auto-posting on, every final sale, return, purchase and expense posts output or input tax to its own ledger account, matching the tax report.
Branches with their own invoice numbering and invoice layout; a branch's own GSTIN can be printed on its invoices from a location field.
Tax report: input tax on purchases, output tax on sales and tax on expenses for any period, branch or contact.
Trial balance, general ledger and day book with the input and output tax accounts, exported to Excel or PDF.
Audit Pack: one Excel workbook with trial balance, balance sheet, P&L, journals, sales, purchases and a ledger tax summary.
Sales and purchase lists your chartered accountant can use to prepare GST returns. Skyline Nexus ERP does not file returns itself.
Automatic CGST + SGST or IGST from the place of supply.
HSN and SAC codes per item with validation, and separate B2B, B2C and export invoice types.
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B style summaries and input tax credit matching: ask us.
E-invoicing through the Invoice Registration Portal (IRN and signed QR): the India connector is built but not live. Ask us for your go-live date.
E-way bills and direct filing on the GST portal.
Reverse-charge marking for India, TDS and TCS.
Indian payroll items (PF, ESI, professional tax) are not offered: payroll in Skyline Nexus ERP is built for Saudi Arabia.

Kanpur sits in Uttar Pradesh, so its GSTINs begin with 09. Selling from Panki to a buyer in Lucknow means CGST plus SGST, each at half the rate, while shipping leather goods to Maharashtra means IGST at the full rate. Registration is due above INR 20 lakh turnover, or INR 40 lakh for goods-only suppliers outside ice cream, pan masala and tobacco.
Skyline Nexus ERP handles rates as tax groups such as CGST 9% + SGST 9% or IGST 18%, and you pick the intra-State or inter-State group on the sale, with HSN printed from the category code. Kanpur exporters above INR 5 crore must report invoices to the IRP for an IRN, which Skyline Nexus ERP cannot do yet, and e-way bills are not generated either.
Kanpur businesses join through the India waitlist form on this page or a demo booked with the Book a demo button; quick questions go to Ask on WhatsApp. Skyline Nexus ERP has no office in India, and support is by WhatsApp, phone and e-mail. A manufacturer usually maps one unit and one godown first, then adds the rest.
Gather the item master with opening stock, suppliers and buyers with GSTIN and opening balances, your chart of accounts and every unit and godown as a branch. The financial year starts in April, amounts are in INR, dates read dd-mm-yyyy, and amounts in words follow lakh and crore.
A Kanpur GSTIN begins with 09, the State code of Uttar Pradesh. Skyline Nexus ERP stores the GSTIN on the business profile and on each contact, so supplier and buyer numbers are printed on documents and stay available when the accountant reviews the books.
Yes. A Kanpur unit selling to a buyer in Delhi makes an inter-State supply, so IGST at the full rate applies, while a sale to a buyer in Uttar Pradesh carries CGST plus SGST. In Skyline Nexus ERP you choose the IGST or CGST and SGST tax group on the sale yourself; there is no automatic switching.
Skyline Nexus ERP includes manufacturing with work orders, bills of materials and routings, alongside purchases and stock per location. A Kanpur leather goods maker can plan a batch of bags or saddlery, consume hides and accessories, and receive finished goods into stock, with costs flowing to the books.
Skyline Nexus ERP keeps purchases, sales, receipts and payments per contact, with receivable and payable ageing and stock per godown. A Naya Ganj wholesaler can see overdue retailers and godown balances on one screen. Weighing-scale integration is available on the POS for loose goods.
A billing app often stops at the bill and the stock count, leaving the accounts to be built elsewhere. Skyline Nexus ERP posts every final sale, purchase and payment to a double-entry ledger once auto-posting is on, so a Kanpur shop has a current trial balance. Some billing apps already prepare GST returns, which Skyline Nexus does not yet.
Skyline Nexus ERP has an English interface and a Hindi interface translation is available, so Kanpur counter and godown staff can work in the language they prefer. Amounts are in INR, and invoices can spell out totals in words in the Indian system of lakh and crore.
A Kanpur manufacturer should bring an item list with opening stock, a supplier and customer list with GSTIN and balances, the chart of accounts and a short note of units and godowns. Skyline Nexus ERP imports these from CSV, and the demo can then run on your own products.
